Hello everyone. After hearing the song (and having my friend give me the background info on it) I felt compelled to sign-up so I could give Rob Thomas a big THANK YOU for Her Diamonds. I too suffer from an auto-immune disease. This song is so very moving and beautiful. It moved me like no other song has ever done. I hope thru it's popularity more people will do their research and become aware of the many many MANY different auto-immune diseases out there and how these diseases affect not only the sick, but the loved ones behind the scenes. This song has made me cry quite a few times....it truly hits home. My words alone cannot express the emotions this song stirred within. So....THANK YOU! xoxo Best wishes to you and your family.

Rob's music touches so many.

First of all, I am new to fan forums and the whole “fan scene”. I’ve never even written a fan letter in my entire life and at 46 … I feel rather long in the tooth to begin this sort of thing … but then we are talking about Rob Thomas.
After reading all the threads on Rob’s song “Her Diamonds”, I was beginning to think my wife and I were kind of off base. Obviously, we had missed something. Neither of us were aware that Marisol suffered from an AI illness, but we both connected with “her Diamonds” in an intensely emotional way. I had a heart attack 3 years ago which saw me spiral into a depression which almost ripped our lives apart.
From the first time we heard “Her Diamonds” on the Ellen show, we have cried almost every time we hear it. For us, it’s as if Rob is singing about our personal experience and what we went through. For her: the many nights she sat up wondering what I was going through and would I make it through another day and would we survive this. For me: the many mornings I would lie awake wondering who this amazing woman was lying at my side who continued to love me regardless of what I had become.
When Rob sings of those “tears falling like diamonds” … those were my tears shed for many many days … for no apparent reason … at any time of the day. And my beloved wife sat holding my hand, not knowing what to do … but love me and hold me and pray.
I guess what I am saying … is it’s not just about AI illnesses … but about any disease from which the sufferer sees no escape. Depression, auto-immune, cancer … the list goes on. Again … Rob Thomas has given us strength to go on … and we can but give him our simple words … Thank you Rob Thomas.
(As I write this, “Her Diamonds” is playing in the background and I shed a few tears … tears of thanks. I am getting better … but it IS a day to day struggle.)

Thank you for sharing such a personal story with us on the boards. You're so right about the song relating to so many people on so many levels. It's these difficult situations that allow us to appreciate just how special a relationship really can be .

I hope your health continues to improve so that you can share many more happy moments with your lovely wife.
