Captain Phil Harris.. from deadliest catch

don't know if you watch.. but he was so cool. and yeah.. he made bad choices that finally took him down... somehow.. don't think he'd have had it any other way..

(don't know if this will work here.. but there's a running RIP thread at the goo board.. for everything from our loved ones..to our beloved pets.. to stars.. anybody you want to pay tribute to)

it helps to look back over and remember them too sometimes..

I heard on the late new last night. Alex(my 9yr old) adores Deadliest Catch and he was so sad this morning that he told me that during Chapel(they have every Wed during school) that he was gonna ask Father John to say a special prayer for him. RIP Capt.Phil.

that's so sweet of him... I wonder what will happened to the episodes that people think are 'live' that he was already in for the 2010 season..

it's sad.. he was only 53!

I had no idea about him.

Good idea for RIP thread though, hopefully we won't post in it too much for obvious reasons.

Wow this was very weird coming on here and seeing this on this board of all places...

We lose too many fishermen up here. Going down to the Terminal today to pay respect at the fisherman's memorial.

I thought I heard the old man say "you can go ashore and take your pay."
Raise a glass Phil.

And I'm with you Peg, let's hope this thread is rarely seen.

seems like he was the kind of man I wish I'd known in 'real' life... and the kind that would have definately gotten my attention 'back in the day'...

I'm positively SURE he will be missed by those who knew and loved him.. in real life.. because he'd missed by us who only saw him on tv..

what a man!

if you go to the comments part of the article.. about 98% are sincerely heartfelt comments.. there's always the jerk or two on there.. but this time.. even more sincerity than when MJ died I think..

(and it creeps me out that they're releasing the autospy report.. little details like 'what's under the wig.'.. we don't really need to know

I heard this morning and was really shocked. I really like to watch Deadliest Catch, we're a bit behind so prolly a lot of episodes to go where Phil is still alive. How sad Frowner They just showed the epi where his oldest got the crab-necklace...that was so touching, can't imagine their loss.

Sorry to hear that your sister took it so hard Peyton. I don't blame her for wanting to get married in Alaska. I've been there a few times and it's a lot like Washington State, but so much more untouched and wild. Made me want to move there, well at least until winter hits.

I assume they were filming the show when it happened. It's the time of year the crabbing boats disappear from the port here and we get really good fresh Opilio crab at Pike Place. They usually get back around March. Down at the terminal the Discovery Channels boat wasn't docked like it usually is.

There's a nice memorial already building for him down at the terminal.
