I can understand where you're coming from. I really hope things turn out well for you with Obama as president. If I were American I would have voted for him, and it has nothing to do with his skin colour..
All the best anyway. |

Of COURSE there were PLENTY of people who wanted to see Obama win this election because they wanted to see a black man in the white house during their lifetime.
DUH... So what? People in this country vote for all sorts of reasons, which might seem valid to them, but not to others. It's still their right to cast a vote, and it's nobody's business but theirs. He certainly DESERVED to win this election based SOLELY on his own merits, skin color aside. Which I think was the point that Rob was making in his "something to ponder" thread. Which reminds me... I don't understand why you just couldn't post this in the original thread? It seems like everytime you have something to add to a discussion, you start a new thread about it. Why don't you just post your thoughts in the original thread like the rest of us do? I know...you already answered this in another thread. You said you wanted to make sure people would SEE it. Trust me, if people are interested in the subject, they will follow the original discussion to see where it leads. And if people are interested in what YOU have to say, they will search for your posts, whatever threads they show up in. Constantly starting new threads to continue old discussions just makes it more difficult to follow the discussion. I get frustrated (I know it's not only about me, but I can't be the only one) because I go looking for something someone said earlier about a fact, or a link, and I don't know which post was made in which thread. Also, I make what I think is a good point in one thread, and then find the same issue is being discussed in another thread at the same time, and I need to make the point again in the new thread. BTW, it's obvious you have an agenda here, and it's not one of good will. I assume you must have been "burned" in some way, and get some satisfaction from getting "under people's skin". Not an admirable trait, but we all have flaws. Still I read your posts because discussions only get interesting (for me) when more than one viewpoint is expressed, and you usually have an opposing viewpoint, and you usually state it well. Nobody's all bad, either. I'm sure you enjoy all the conjecture about whether or not you are a familiar poster with a masked alter ego. Someone once asked me if "I" was you. I didn't know whether to be amused or insulted LOL. |

Julie....I'm pretty sure anyone saying they "know" who Soothy is, is either guessing, talking out their ass or assuming (and we all know what they say about that Let's not forget the last time someone accused someone of being an alias....it caused a lot of drama and hurt and it wasn't even true. As for Soothy getting called names, being told he/she had mental deficiency and attention seeker..wtf?? I didn't see anyone else that was posting their political views getting that kind of treatment, big fucking deal if Soothy has a different opinion than others when it comes to politics, so what if he/she is "shoving" their opinions down our throats....there were SO many others shoving their views down our throats with their political rantings, I didn't see them being called stupid and ignorant. I know Soothy is most of the time a pain in the ass, rude, mean and makes bitchy comments...some of my dearest friends and myself have been been targets of it...you know what though...95% of the people on this board have made bitchy, rude or mean comments at one point. IMO, the people calling Soothy names because he/she posted their political views are the ignorant ones. As for peeps saying don't feed the trolls....maybe you should quit telling people what to do. Sorry if this post pisses anyone off.....better pissed off than pissed on. (unless you like that sorta thing. Forgive me for posting in this days later...between work and computer problems, I haven't had time to be on the boards. Have a great day. i wanted to stop on (cuz i said i would) and give you guys a yell FROM rob, on this six year anniversary of the rob yell. you guys have to be the best fans ever! Rt |

Since I am the only one who said I actually have no doubt, this is about me. There is much that goes on in pm's and even emails in reference to this board. When someone hurts you (and more than once) it is hard to get over or just forget about and you can't have it both ways. It's not about political threads, etc. It is about a person that comes in here just to cause trouble. As I re-read this to say what I want it to say, I realize that this whole thing is an embarrassment to me as an adult, when I should be posting in Aprils thread about things far more important. But this (for some reason) has beaten me down and made me feel stupid. I know that I can't keep walking the line between groups in here and I no longer will try. |

I've made a few well educated guesses who soothy is and yep I've shared them in PM's to a select few people. I wasn't the one who said anything to Becca though...lol.
In the end, for me, Soothy is Soothy and I have to accept that for it's face value, hate them or love them on their own merits and not who I might believe them to be. If they drive you insane, treat them like you would anyone else who pisses you off. If you agree with them, then speak up then too. If they want to go out of their way to hurt me, they'll do it no matter what name they use. I've learned not to share to much extremely private things with people on a board. There are exceptions though, but I know exactly who I've told and what I've shared in a PM and if they were to try and use any of it against me under an alias, well then it's my own fault, but I'd know exactly who the alias was. Kat, I want to point out that the pm's and the emails I was referring to have nothing to do with anyone who has posted in here recently (certainly not you). People talk in pm's a lot more than I realized, but I just think this is a person from my past who just keeps poking at me. I ignored it for a long time, but (forgive me)it just got to me. |

I realize that the original poster is probably not interested in anything like 'facts', but here goes.
According to exit polls, it is true that roughly 95% of African American voted for Obama. But that is not the interesting statistic. African Americans overwhelming identify with the Democractic party- we saw the same numbers when it came to other Democratic presidential candidates (Kerry, Gore, and especially Clinton). The interesting exit poll had to do with whether people considered race as a factor in their vote. Essentially two questions were asked- was race a primary factor? or did race not factor in at all. Turns out that among these two groups, the percent who voted for Obama versus McCain were exactly the same. I am not saying that there are not racists, I am not saying that some people were not motivated by race- but in the aggregate, race did not matter. But without getting into all the rules of stats, race did not play a role in the outcome of the election. |

I understand why it got to you Laura. There is nothing to forgive. I didn't mean to make it sound like you didn't have a right to be upset, if you believe it's someone who is personally going after you. If you recognize things in this poster that assure you who it is, then you have to be able to handle it as you see fit. Whatever will give you peace of mind. I won't judge that, it's not my place. ~Kat In these frozen and silent nights |

Sorry to bust your bubble Laura....but I have seen more than one person saying they know who Soothy is, so no, this isn't about you, you never even crossed my mind. LOL *edit..wait, I fibbed, you actually DID cross my mind, when I posted the part about someone accusing someone of being an alias and being wrong. I was referring to when you were accused of being an alias. I wasn't thinking about you when I said what I did about people knowing who Soothy really is though. I really didn't pay attention to who Julie was talking too when she asked who...I've been wanting to comment about the peeps who think they know for awhile now and when I seen Julie's who....I ran with it. As for the rest of what you posted, I haven't a clue what you are talking about, so I can't comment on that.... (((Julie and Jenny))) This message has been edited. I've also seen many people state they are sure who soothsayer "really" is, but I only asked you Laura because you were the most recent. Sorry.
And I'm sorry for any troubles you've had here, I'll never understand message board fights and have no idea what it's about. |
