it turned out that having to judge the merit of honesty was much more difficult

Confused what does this mean? that someone would not be honest about why they love rob?

...just curious...

Congrats to the winners!

Hope you have a great time.

Big Grin

I can't help but be disappointed about the random drawing, tho. I feel a bit misled.

<----irked

kinda feel like I wasted my time, ya know? I could've said anything and had a chance with a random drawing. why didn't they do that to begin with?!

Let me say Congrats to the winners.

But the fan club's reasoning for this doesnt make much sense imho.

I took it to mean that most (probably all) of the entries were from the heart. I think, particularly given the amount of love around here, it was harder to judge one reason against another than they thought. I think it was supposed to be a compliment, not an insult.

Just my 2 cents for what its worth. Smiler

Gosh, you guys, i was so afraid to post my dissent for fear of peoples reactions but I am so glad that others feel as i do. I didn't enter, but I feel as if I had entered, I would have been gypped (hubby feels that way!)

I spent a few days trying to come up with something that didn't sound like gibberish blathering, and I knew I couldn't go...but damn...

Frowner

Congrats to the winners Smiler

That's exactly why I went with humor instead.

that's my take on it too Big Grin
I feel a little sad that I am not going to be going as I was looking forward to it breaking my low spell however I think that trying to make the choice would have been a real challenge and thought at the time that the judges had set themselves a task and a half.

congrats to all those that won and i trust they have a huge night will expect to hear rave reviews after the event. Make sure you guys give a shout out to mari, rob and the rest of the band from us all. Big Grin

happy days

I just reread this.

So some winners were chosen by merit and perceived sincerity and some were chosen randomly?

Exactly how is THAT fair for everyone?

Confused

*shrugs*

my sense would be that perhaps they were uncertain not about people's love for rob but for other things they put in their sentences, like i love rob cuz he helped me thru cancer or something like that. While with some people we do know that to be fact because they post about it on the board but sadly there are people that would lie about or embelish on their lifes hardships.

I feel bad for complaining, contests are not easy and especially having to judge "cleverness", etc. Ty could have easily not told us how the winners were picked and we would not have known.

But if i would have known that randomness played into it, I would have entered myself and had two chances (mine and hubbys) since we both have separate FC memberships.

It would be really sad if peeps "faked" issues to win a contest like this... Frowner
