I'd get it in a heartbeat.. IF it was available here.... it's just not here yet... (a few in the atlanta area.. but not out here in the boonies)

as for the vaccine... I've always thought the risk associated with any vaccine are minimal compared to the risk of the disease...

I know I've heard lots of people bring up that concern... that they never had the flu until they got a flu shot....

the flu shot doesn't PREVENT the flu.. of any kind.... it just helps make the symptoms less severe... so maybe it would have been much worse if you didn't have the shot..

and that is SO true... and why people spend BILLIONS on cold and flu junk that really makes very little difference in the grand scheme of when they're getting better anyway...

Vaccines become avaliable in our schools on Oct 30th. ONLY a few schools at a time, and only k-3rd grades right now.

I have already had the swine flu too so wont be getting that shot if they offer it here. But on Tuesday I find out if I can be given the regular flu shot since I fall into the high risk category. I say if I can get it, because it has been suggested that they wont give me the regular shot because of how recently I had swine flu and the meds for it. Time will tell I guess.

Why isn't the vaccine available yet in the outskirts of Atlanta? Why are there shortages everywhere? Where's the outrage? Where's the government when you need it? Didn't we learn anything from Katrina? We've had over a year to be prepared and yet government has failed to make sure everyone is protected! WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE?

"I'm a big supporter of non-censorship" - Barack Obama during his trip to China

The Obama administration on Thursday tried to make "pay czar" Kenneth Feinberg available for interviews to every member of the White House pool except Fox News. But the Washington bureau chiefs of the five TV networks decided that none of their reporters would interview Feinberg unless Fox News was included.

Obama (from his personal teleprompter/watch): You should allow more freedoms in the areas of worship, expression and the internet, which by-the-way Al Gore invented.

Hu Jintao: Did you know we hold over 20% of the U.S. debt. I think as the dollar continues to fall, we shall call in some of these loans.

Obama (ad-libbing): Ahh, ahh. . .Death to Tibet. Carry on.

Just wanted to report back in and say my daughter did well with her shot she got last week. (Thank God) She hasn't had any problems at all. My cousin got one a couple of weeks ago and she hasn't had any problems. There's a shortage here so I haven't been able to get my boys one yet, they are older. Aren't the additives that everyone is so scared of in this vaccine the same as the ones in the vaccines that we were all required to have as children? I think so.

My daughter got her seasonal and H1N1 shots today. I was proud of her being so brave (she's only 4). I'll keep an eye on her for the next few days, but so far, nothing but a sore arm.

I got swine flu in May and I would rather have risked the vaccination than got the flu it was not nice and took me along time to get over it and I am a fairly fit person. I flew to Melbourne from Darwin for a Pink concert and got it while I was there.
I don't even know if I do need to get the vaccination if I have already had it.Does anyone know about this?

cheers

Leanne-

I had it a couple of weeks ago, and my doctor told me I won't need the shot because at this point, I probably have at least twice the immunity that it would provide. That's the one advantage to having had it, I guess- we don't need to worry about any of these questions! Smiler
