You two radicals!! ;-) By the way, the DC show was fantastic! Rob was very chatty, funy, & engaging. He had the guys from CL & 1R up on stage with him for a lot of the songs, he mentioned Tyler's passing when he introduced Little Wonders but handled himself beautifully, his voice was perfect... all in all a great show!

Yep, that's me, as my dad used to say, the hippy dippy daughter of a proud Army man LOL. I mean really, is it such a stretch that a musician is against war? Hasn't that kind of been the norm for some time now?

Sooo, anti-war protesters are "radicals"??? Wow. That's sad. And it's sad that you're offended by the peace sign. I guess you wouldn't have had a problem if he had held up a sign of a mushroom cloud?

*shakes head*

Peace on Earth. It's what we wish for on our Christmas cards.

Rob ends most shows with: Be good to each other.

I want world peace. Hell,I'd like to see some peace at work - there's so much UNREST and everyone has an opinion and they are all trying to be heard - all thinking THEIR view is the right one and sometimes it would just be nice to co-exist in Peace. contentment.

I figure that's all he might be trying to say. That despite your differences be it thought, culture, ideas, beliefs....put them away today and just enjoy some incredible music and be content?? that is my opinion - so I could be wrong. But I'm content with that. Smiler

I can't say I agree with this. The peace sign was designed for pro nuclear disarmament. I still think it carries the same message it intended.

That peace is preferable to war. To be honest I think a lot of soldiers would agree. They are proud to fight but I'm sure if asked they would rather they didn't HAVE to.

I'm proud of the men and women who served and are still serving this country. That doesn't mean I don't believe that peace is preferable to war. One really doesn't have much to do with the other.

An American Flag? Well without the right to exercise one's free speech the American Flag becomes more of a empty pole with fabric. If we don't support the ideas behind what the flag represents then it's importance shall be no more than a fashion statement as well.

As others have said, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, and your right to express it.

However.

Personally, I don't think it's appropriate to make an account on this board solely to complain about something like this that is purely based in opinion (and not something shocking or horrifying to the majority of people), particularly in light of what has been going on in Rob's personal life over the past week or so.

But that's just my opinion.

Granted, the peace sign has become more of a fashion statement in the past few decades than any real symbol, but it's still not something that should be wove around the day prior to Veterans' Day. An American flag would be far more appropriate.

It's Rob's show, and whatever he wants to do is appropriate.

As I've already posted in Rob's thread on the subject (I saw that one first) I am amazed that anyone can consider the Peace sign inappropriate before Veteran's Day, or any other day of the year for that matter.

Who doesn't want peace?

I take the point that it was used in the 60's to protest against the Vietnam war, but isn't that the joy of living in a free country - the right to protest and state your views?

Of course, you as the poster of this thread has the same right and I respect that, but I don't understand how the Peace sign could ever be considered inappropriate!
