Just wondering what y'all think of the CD. Maybe this is the wrong place to ask? Wink

Did it just come out today? Because my hubby keeps telling me that it has been out for a couple of weeks.........but what does he know, right?

Peg, it was released today. There was an early stream of it on his official website last week. Smiler

that's what I thought. It was advertised in Best Buy's ad on Sunday and they didn't specify release date, as they usually do with new releases. Anyhoooo, I am heading out to get it tonite.

I know I don't post in here a lot, (in fact, haven't really been around the boards at all lately) but I do love me some Cookie. Oh yeah. The man makes my heart skip a beat.

Lovely to have you with us, Peg...please come by more often and let us know how you love the CD!! Big Grin

This was taken yesterday. He put on a show at the Hard Rock Cafe for people who showed up early in the morning to buy the cd at Virgin Records in Times Square. (he also sent donuts to those who were waiting outside in the cold)

The record and all the individual songs have been doing so well!!!!

For anyone who might be in the Kansas City area on Thanksgiving:

KCP&L Plaza Lights
Thanksgiving Evening
Thursday, November 27th
6-7 PM

Flip of the Switch at 6:30pm by “American Idol” winner & Blue Springs native,
David Cook

Live Ceremony and Pre-show on KCTV Channel 5
The program will salute other Kansas City rockers and singers.
Performances include:

• Rock singer Chris Accardo from KC band Sometimes Three
• Vocalist Karla Bennett with KC rock band Project Chameleon
• Pop and jazz singer Monique Danielle
• A cappella group Kychn Synk
• Teenage pop singers and dancers with Radio Disney’s Rockin’ Road Crew
• Modern dancing from the UMKC Conservatory School of Dance
• Kerry Strayer and the Plaza Lights Orchestra

The most magical time of the year, Holidays on the Plaza, is upon Kansas City once again. The Plaza Lights have been carefully strung, and are ready to illuminate the Country Club Plaza for the 79th year.

The ceremony begins at 6:00 pm and the lights come on at 6:30. A fireworks display above the stage by The Cheesecake Factory and at The InterContinental Hotel immediately follows the flip of the switch. The show wraps up at 7:00pm.

The Kansas City Power and Light Season of Lights kicks off Thanksgiving evening at the 79th Annual Plaza Lighting Ceremony. This year’s ceremony will feature David Cook, American Idol and Blue Springs native, as he flips the switch to illuminate thousands of lights. The Lighting Ceremony stage is located just south of 47th and Wyandotte, near the Cheesecake Factory and Restoration Hardware.

Can’t make it to the ceremony? Tune into KCTV Channel 5, the Plaza Lighting Ceremony’s media partner, and catch all the action live.

Kansas City Power & Light is thrilled to bring this long-standing tradition to Kansas City for the ninth year. Kansas City Power & Light employees and their families will be collecting donations on Thanksgiving night for Salvation Army. Listen for that familiar sound of jingling bells.

The magic of the season continues each night when the lights come on at 5pm. The final evening for the lights to shine is Sunday, January 11, 2009.

Fun Plaza Lights Facts

The Plaza Lights started with a string of 16 lights over a doorway in 1925. The first Plaza Lighting took place in 1930.

Tower lights are always one color. For example, The Time Tower, at Broadway and Ward Parkway, is always red.

The lights don’t stay up all year long. The hard-working crew from Capital Electric begin hanging the lights in August and take them back down starting in mid-January through the beginning of March.

The big switch on the stage at the Plaza Lighting Ceremony really does turn on all the lights. The child chosen from the audience is always chosen at random.

A lights test occurs on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving (the day before Thanksgiving) from 2 to 6 am.

The only time that the Plaza lights were not in operation occurred in 1973 when President Nixon called upon all Americans to curtail the use of Christmas lights to reduce dependence on foreign oil imports.

Guests that have been invited to turn on the Plaza Lights include: George Brett, Trent Green, Kate Spade, "Fastest Man in the World" Maurice Green, Paul Rudd, Walter Cronkite, Derek Thomas, Marcus Allen, Buck O’Neil and Oleta Adams.

All of the Plaza’s parking garages are free and open to the public.

Best viewing options for the Plaza Lights include Halls rooftop, which would allow you to see the actual ceremony. Other roof tops with good views during the season of lights include McCormick & Schmick’s, Starker’s Reserve Restaurant The Intercontinental Kansas City Hotel and the second floor of Barnes & Noble.

The Plaza’s shops have extended hours during the holiday season (November 28 – December 30) 10am - 9pm Monday through Friday and noon to 6pm on Sunday.

The best time to take a carriage ride on the Plaza is during the holiday season. Carriage companies operate all-year. Surrey’s Carriage Company at 816-531-2673
