I'm not Michele - but this is how I described "the carpet scene" just after we saw it Eeker

The carpet scene????

You mean where Rob is lying flat on his back with his knees up on the oriental looking rug? Where the camera is pointed at him from a vantage point about a foot and a half above his knees, but takes in his whole body as he lies there in THOSE jeans. And while he talks, but no one really listens to what he is saying because they are too mesmerized watching his knees open and close...wider and wider and wider....and faster and faster and faster....as the camera is just focused.....there. Where he's obviously been enjoying some "herbs" and he's rolling his head back and forth and the knees are opening and closing....wider and wider and wider.....and faster and faster and faster......

Here's all I know about our DVD for "My Secret Record":

1) I specifically asked Michael Lippmann if we would be getting "My Secret Record" on DVD, and he said yes, very definite about it.

2)Earlier this year, when Rob was doing radio events with Paul, I asked a DJ that was there to ask Rob if there would be a DVD of "MY Secret Record". She asked him, and then she told me that he said Yes, and I think he said it would be out next year (like 2009). But he did says Yes.

Ah, yes - the carpet scene was just really lovely. The entire documentary was just such a gorgeous glimpse into Rob being Rob, all he went through to fight the industry at times for his solo record. And the infamous quote: "..All the way to 'Fuck Off' ". Plus that Q&A we got after the screening in Nashville - precious moments indeed.

And - I know I've mentioned this before - Jeannie ("GENIE") and I were fortunate enough to pass by the restaurant adjacent to the theater, right when Rob was outside having a smoke. I went right up to him (probably yelling, "Rob! Rob!") - and he was very sweet (got a hug). We got to talk to him about the film for almost 10 minutes (not sure - time stood still!!), and told him how excited we were, and asked what was in the film (this was before the screening). He of course told us first off about the John Mayer scene when John talks about autographing at a porn shop.

Thanks for that walk on Rob Memory Lane. Nashville screening event was just unbelievable.

Thank you, Rob, for sharing your music and your Self with the World - it REALLY needs it!!!

Funny...

The "carpet scene", to me was ok. But, not the one I'd mention as THE highlight.

I was, by far, more impressed with the scenes that spoke about Rob's integrity.

Especially the one in the car in which he refuses to "give in" for any amount of money.

Or the one in which he's obviously exhausted, upset and tearful, saying, "Mari's having a bad day."

And so many more...

I got to ask Rob at the Q&A, if he felt like he always had to be "on" during the filming. (Cause Gillian really followed him all around) - and he said No, (I think he said it "wasn't too weird") because he felt so comfortable with Gillian.

There is video from a few people of that Q&A.

I can’t wait until this documentary comes out on DVD. I could kick myself for not going to the showing in Nashville so I really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences from the film to the after show Q&A.
I’m pretty certain though that the scene where Rob is talking to Mari on the phone about her having a bad day (correct me if I’m wrong on this) but I know I’ve seen that part somewhere but I can’t remember where. Doesn’t that take place in the recording studio where Rob is waiting for John Mayer to arrive? I’ve been racking my brains but still can’t remember…

There was a part in the movie where Rob was talking to Marisol on the phone in a car, which ended with Rob with one hand over the camera lens, as if to say, ok enough.

There is a scene on the DVD footage on STB where Rob is in the studio with John Mayer - I don't remember him being on the phone there, but talking about it later, and saying he knew why he looked so wiped out in that scene.

officially above and beyond

The part I remember is Rob on the phone with Mari and saying that he can't right now - he's waiting for John Mayer to come and then he hangs up and he's telling whoever is there that it was Mari and that she was crying. I've looked through every dvd and can't find it. Oh well, thanks Donna for your reply. Smiler
