What an experience! I left work early and drove an hour to pick up my son from school. Then we drove another hour to get to the venue. We arrived at 3:45 (had to be there no later than 4:30). Got our tix when will call opened @ 4 and got in the M&G line. There were 4 of us fc members (well, 5 including my son!!) and probably 20 or so radio station winners. We were brought downstairs to a tiny little room right at 4:30. After a few basic logistics, they brought Rob in. He looked SMOKIN' HOT !!!! Big Grin

Rob started with the radio peeps and then met with the fc peeps. I let my son go ahead of me. He brought his strat. As soon as Rob saw him he said that he remembered him. Rob told him his guitar was bad ass, and not kid stuff - I told him that we got it after Colton met the band last year and Kyle told him he should get a strat! Rob signed it and they sat together holding the guitar for their picture. Can't wait to see that!

Then it was my turn. I thought I would be more nervous, but Rob doesn't give off that holier than thou rock star attitude... I felt really comfortable with him. I introduced myself and he signed my cradlesong CD insert. Even though I had a silver/metallic sharpie in my hand, I was so mesmerized by finally meeting Rob in person that I never even thought to give it to him! So he signed it with his black sharpie. I gave him a DVD and a CD of my husband's stand-up comedy show for some entertainment on the bus. He thought that was pretty cool and actually thought he may have seen my husband's show somewhere before. We posed for our pic and I asked him, "So, are you going to do Thriller for us tonight?" He laughed and said, "No, no Thriller tonight. That was a one-time deal for Halloween."

As we were leaving my son thought it was necessary to announce, "By the way Rob, did you know that my mom calls you her boyfriend?" Eeker OMG! Rob laughed and said, "You shouldn't rat out your mom like that!" We all laughed and I said I was just glad my pic had already been taken since my face was so red now! Leave it to a 9 year old boy to embarrass the shit out of his mom!!

One Republic couldn't make it but Carolina Liar rocked it and then Rob came on at about 8:30 til around 10:15. The set list is posted already somewhere on here, but a few of the highlights for me were Sleep til the War is Over, Hang, Smooth (acoustic), Meltdown, Someday, Not Just a Woman, and Dancing in the Dark. Rob's voice was absolutely incredible. He said he always likes to do a few Matchbox songs but this time he's not doing too many because he and the guys will be getting back together to work on another album soon! YAY!!

It was definitely a night to remember and cherish. It all went by so fast, especially the M&G. But this is one night I definitely will never forget. My siggy has pics of our autographed items (click to enlarge), and I'll add the M&G pics as soon as I get them!

Pics!!!!

I saw you and your son waiting to go in for the M&G~though at the time, I didn't know that was what you were waiting for. How AMAZING are Rob's comments about the guitar and that he was so cool with your son (then again, it is ROB, and we ALL know that he is amazing)!! That totally warms my heart. I wanted to talk to you and your son, but didn't have a chance. What a wonderful story! Thanks for sharing : )

AND ROFLMAO Colton telling Rob that you call him your boyfriend! Out of the mouths of babes ; ) PRICELESS!!!

robyn~

I hear songs that don't exist. That's my job~Rt
