Ugh, I could not believe how many empty seats there were around me. It was so sad, they could have been filled by fans. I think the venues/tour manager should fill those seats, at least for the benefit of the artist. I know other acts that do this. And imagine the excitement someone that was up in the nosebleeds would have when placed on the floor. It's beyond exciting! I think Reno was the "worst" for me, only because of the drunks either stepping on my feet, talking throughout, or causing distractions by falling over. AND security was in our view ON the floor in the aisle the entire night. I really don't see why they didn't stay behind the barricade if they weren't needed. It really did piss me off and put a bit of a damper on my night. Ugh. I really hope the next shows are GA http://www.last.fm/user/JessicaSarahS http://twitter.com/JessicaSarahS http://www.flickr.com/photos/jessicasarahs/ http://www.youtube.com/user/JessicaSarahS So maybe we should start all over...Start all over again |

I only was able to do 2 shows this tour, but I have to admit (and you all know I am a huge fan and LOVE rob) but I thought the Milwaukee show was a bit... slow/bland. Too many slow songs. I did think that the Hammond Show was more upbeat and higher energy though.
About the light and stage stuff, it is not important to me either. But.... I agree I would rather have solid simple backgrounds vs. most of the backgrounds during this tour. I hope I don't offend whoever designed them but they were kind of cheesy/low budget. I too did think they looked like some screen savers and nothing more. They were a bit distracting and I don't want anything to distract me from Rob. So there, I said it, but I am just giving my honest opinion. |

im not saying Rob made anyone dress any certain way, i'm just saying...
stating the obvious. i had a good time at my shows, i'm just saying that it was a very different energy than last tour and that changed how the show felt, in my opinion. the band is great, the shows, are great, Rob is amazing as always, and yes, i've seen different performers. i've never felt that any of the shows were the "same" because i know full well that every show is different. which is why i kinda wish i could be at all of them! lol! but, still. different album, different tour, different time in everyones lives and in the world as a whole... who knows? i dont think it was just one thing that made this tour so different from the rest. just sayin.... I <3 NY "we're just 5 lucky f*cks that live on a bus" "Do you remember where you were when things were heavy?" "Maybe you can help remind us how to play one of our own songs!" ~Rob to me in St. Paul 01Aug01 "This song is...for you." - Rob, in Atlanta before he played 'Heavy' for me 24Oct05 "So we have a, one of our dear fans has been around for a long, long time and comes to a lot of our shows and she wanted us to play this song...so she kept saying 'play it, play it, play it', and i was like 'we can't, we can't' and she goes, 'why don't you do it acoustic?' '...that's not a bad idea..." Thank you for Wonderful in Seattle 15Oct09 and beyond!! you're welcome. “I’m playing this for some friends cuz I tried to play it for them once and I screwed it up terribly. This is their favorite song so I’m going to try it again. I know I messed it up last time pretty bad. But, I, I, listen, here’s the deal, it’s because this is a song that doesn’t exist really anywhere unless you happen to have found a bootleg copy of it. Because it’s a song that matchbox twenty just started playing live and never recorded and never did really anything with and just uh, just one day just as quickly stopped playing it. And so it’s easy to forget those after years and years. So I’m trying to remember it again right now. This song is called ‘Heavy’ ” Rob, in Temecula before he played Heavy for me 19Nov05 Thanks for Heavy in Vegas 18Mar08!!! "We're going to play something else we didn't play last night...cuz I love obscure songs!" ~ Rob 01Jan06 Rob, thanks for: Swing in Boston; Time After Time in Albany; Heavy in Atlanta; Tragedy in Melbourne; Dizzy in San Diego; Heavy and My, My, My in Temecula; Swing in Toronto; You're My Kind in Tampa; Tragedy in Hollywood; Shame in Vegas w/matchbox, Suffer Me and Bent in Burlington; You Know Me in Victoria; My, My, My in Boca; Rest Stop in Orlando; My, My, My and Recollection Phoenix in Columbus; Leave in Cuyahoga Falls; You Know Me in Birmingham; and My, My, My in Central Point; and Heavy in Vegas w/ matchbox! Also Dear Joan in St. Paul 11Oct09, Time After Time in Vancouver 14Oct09 and Wonderful (acoustic!) in Seattle 15Oct09!! And even when I wasn’t there: Girl Like that in Providence; Rest Stop in Philadelphia; Shame in Boston; Recollection Phoenix in Verona; Kody in Uncasville; Long Day in DC; Hang in New York; Maria (shut up and kiss me) in Newark; Recollection Phoenix in Phoenix; and Leave in Oakland! "p.s. thanx to ashley and melissa for ISHMAEL. it's truly life changing and i recommend it to every one i meet." ~ Rob 31Aug06 "hehe" ~ Rob 14Feb08 "you guys are the greatest band ever." "He dumped me for a more experienced blonde girl." ~Anna Nalick 05Apr06 Listen - AL, AVA, BRM, JDM, JK, TNL, MB, MVE, VS. "When people are screaming and roaring and shouting, the humbling thing is to realize it's not really for the band or artist on the stage. It's for their connection with the songs. A song just can own you…I think that's why concerts are so powerful. If that song is such a part of your life, and you hear it, it's too much almost." ~ Bono |

Oh, another thought. I know they said they got rid of the seniority seating thing for the fan club because they wanted to see new ($$) faces up front. Well, that doesn't seem to be working so well. Soooo, can we get the seniority system back in place? I think the shows were great and felt like a family celebration.

Just to clarify, I am NOW only really a MB20 fan but that hasn't always been the case. I bought tickets to last month's shows on the strength of the last time I saw him solo - I was totally blown away and it was probably my favourite live show of that year. I guess maybe I have nobody to blame but myself for expecting an equal or better experience this time round. |

I agree that everyone has their right to their own opinion. This is mine and I don't begrudge the opinions of everyone else. I am a Rob fan through and through and will always be. His music is magic and has touched my life in huge way.
The only show I got to go to was the Hammond show and I thought it was incredible. He sounded great, he looked great, and my entire evening was one big happy, fun time. I got to meet up with my cousin for the show and we had a blast, like always! I didn't spend a whole lot of time looking at the lighting or the band/back up singers. I am totally there to see Rob. I took 177 pictures of Rob...maybe I'm obsessed. This is a solo show and Rob is the star. I could care less who's backing him up on a solo tour. You could replace anyone else on that stage and I wouldn't notice or care at all. And I would be that way for any solo artist that I would go to see live. The crowd around me was totally into the show. Everyone was up dancing and singing along. There was one section behind me (101) that I could see where about half the section was sitting down but the rest of the venue was up and on their feet. I enjoyed this show more than the one I saw during his first solo tour. It was a good show too and my seats were actually closer for that show but I thought this one blew that one away. I think Cradlesong is much better than Something to be. Not that I don't like Something to be, I just like Cradlesong better. There is not one song that Rob does, either solo or with MB that I don't like. I love them all. I've been a MB20 fan since 1998. I love all the Matchbox men and go to those shows to hear the music. I do also check out Rob while I'm there. He is extremely handsome as well as extremely talented and I cannot help but stare at him when he's in my line of vision. But the main draw is the voice and the music because I can't see who's singing when I'm sitting at home or in my car listening to a CD yet Rob and MB are the CD's I listen to over and over again. The music soothes me, comforts me, uplifts me and generally puts a big ole smile on my face. Now, can't wait for the new MB20 CD to come out and for them to hit the road! |

Funny, didn't even notice the lights........ my eyes were on the prize, every second of the show......... and Rob?? Couldn't have been more "on" worth every single cent I spent and the 3.5 hours I waited before the show to be right up at that stage....... then again, I SOOO didn't go there for the lights.
Sorry you didn't enjoy~but, I am on cloud 10, and won't be coming back down for a LONG LONG time : ) robyn~ I hear songs that don't exist. That's my job~Rt |

It's so interesting how people can have such different views of things--which is not to say that's a bad thing! I enjoyed the two shows I've seen thus far on this tour a LOT more than Rob's last solo shows. I was lucky enough to be front row at both shows this time around, so I didn't really notice the background (and I was a little preoccupied with Rob to even care). I guess I enjoyed these shows more because I LOVE LOVE LOVE this CD. I can't wait to see Rob next month!!

Just my $.02, for what it’s worth.
I saw my very first MB20 concert last year with some amazing people from this board. Those shows ROCKED my world. We went to 3 shows in 4 days, and I didn’t care that they were “basically” the same shows. I was there to shake my ass, and that I did! It was the time of my life! Last month, I went to my very first solo Rob concert. I was there fully prepared to shake my ass off again, but really didn’t. It could have that I was on the front row in total awe of it all, or it could have been the slower songs, and vibe from the arena, I’m not sure. But, I still enjoyed the HELL out of it. Rob was spot on, he was funny and charming, and seemed to be having a great time! I was there for Rob, and I pretty much just stood and stared at him the entire show. LOL. He is an amazing singer who pours his heart and soul into his music. His songs have touched me, and my adoration for him brought me here, and I am richer in friends for that. So, I was fine just standing there and taking it all in. It was pretty amazing, and something I will never forget. When MB20 tours again, I will travel to see them, and I’m sure that there will be some ass-shaking going on there. Just something about the guys together that gets my juices flowing. But, that doesn’t detract from Rob’s solo tour. There’s definitely a difference, but that’s fine. I have enough love and respect to go around. ~Peace~ ~~It's never easy and you never know what leaves you crying And what makes you whole~~ |

I agree with every single thing you said : ) Thanks! robyn~ I hear songs that don't exist. That's my job~Rt |
