On the contrary I feel that these shows are full of energy, and I disagree about the lighting...not that I care much about that anyway. I dont go for the lights. Wink

To each there own...I suppose.

welcome to Robs board BTW.

I agree with Farrah. As long as Rob entertains and sounds good, I could care less how the background looks. I go for rob, not prettty lights.

To each their own, I guess
P.s. I would soooo go to the campfire tour 2010.LOL

Eeker Eeker Eeker
tis ok, I still luvs ya Razzer
(I don't go for the rob Eeker Eeker )

I have to say my siggy pic alone made the 5 hr drive to san jose worth it. And thankfully Rob isn't in it to screw it up LOL (cuz if he was there'd be a downward spotlight that would wash out the lovely background)

I havent seen a show yet so I cant comment on the lighting.

Rob could perform with a cardboard box as the background and I would still be mesmerised. Smiler

I'm going in a few weeks in NYC. But I really didn't like the long Smooth version from the last tour. Actually, I'm not a fan of the slower version of Smooth at all. And I'd prefer another song than a long jam session. Just my preference. But off-key background singers is a definite problem IMO.

Meh. <---don't know what it means, but it seemed like a good way to start off...

...as has been already stated, there was a light show? there were background singers?...

some people see the good, some the lacking...

I wasn't in St Louis but at my shows what I saw was rob, spot on as usual, giving his all, interacting with the crowd, taking time to single peeps out and make em feel REALLY special, reading signs and overall siging his heart out. THAT's what I came to see.

I have been to fantastic light shows and shows where background singers were WAY better than the main act (and have actually had to fill in). I've been to shows where the main act hardly acknowledges that bands have been on prior to their own show, whereas rob gives credit where it's due and (far as I know) has come out at each show and been very playful with the warmups.

Put me in the Campfire / Cardboard Box Tour Category.

...I would trade all of my tomorrows for a single yesterday

What's that saying...you can't please everyone. I loved my show. That's all I have to add. Big Grin

As for the light show, my guess is that Rob had to cut costs somewhere. He opted to keep the band together (bless him). He has some of the top touring professionals and I'm sure he pays them accordingly. So if it was choice between a fancy stage setup and lights or the BAND, I think the band was the way to go. This isn't an arena tour so people who are expecting laser, etc., will surely come away disappointed.

As long as the band sounds great, I'm in. They sounded fantastic in Charlotte and seemed to be having a good time. I always find posts like yours interesting. People that go to a lot of shows and apparently look for something in a show that matters little to me.

Then again I don't get all warm and fuzzy when Rob gives Paul or Kyle a hug either.

I'm just thrilled that Rob seems to love to tour. Hopefully, that will mean more solo and/or MB20 tours for years to come. Big Grin My hope is to try to catch at least one show per tour for as long as I can.

I'll admit that I'm probably relatively unique on this board, in that I do not and cannot watch Rob 100% of the time at a show. I don't find him attractive. (waits for the jaws to be picked up off the ground).

I *need* the other elements in a show to keep my visual attention. Even my ears get distracted on songs that are not necessarily my favorites. I notice a *lot*... I noticed his background singers didn't seem to be as strong as last time. I noticed the band *really* hung back on the stage this time. I noticed the Windows screen savers. I noticed the Carolina Liar guy on mandolin during "Getting Late" was *fucking up* the song. I don't know whether he thought he was being creative or if he really was just that off, but there were *always* stray notes when all the other instruments were silent - it sounded like crap through my earplugs. If he'd have stopped playing it would have been lovely. I noticed a lot of the songs were fairly straightforward and "off the CD" ...

I go to the show for the music - but if there's nothing else going on, I may as well stay home and listen to the CD. I don't go to a show to hear the CD - and honestly before I ever go see someone new now, I read around to see what it's like. If they play the CD, I skip the show.

Rob's show was good, don't get me wrong. I'm glad I had the opportunity to go. But comparably ..... it wasn't the same. I spent a lot of time in my seat, and a lot of time with my eyes closed. That's unusual for me.

I can say the same thing for all the MB20 shows that I've been to and most other concerts that I've been to during my life. I don't have a problem with it. The music they play is great.

Roll Eyes
April, there is no accounting for taste... Razzer

jk (as you know!...I hope)

I find it amazing that you and I were at the same show, cos it was, hands down, the best I have ever seen...part of it was seat location maybe, but (and I will NOT apologize for this) I am there to see rob, Rob, ROB!....everything else is just a distraction...I do remember it the way you recall, it just wasn't that important to me (I am GLAD Al doesn't get to do that dragged out solo that seemed to go longer with each show....)

and I am okay with that...

as for CD vs concert? rob is one of the few who actually sound better on stage than thru the radio...

promise me we will see a M5 together sometime...maybe you can sway me to the other side...but I doubt it.... Wink

I was actually surprised when I read that you were even going to a Rob show.

My fault, I wanted to see her so I MADE her go.... Big Grin wish we could have shared dinner April, next time lets coordinate better! Smiler

After reading this again, I do want to add that this is insulting to Rob and his fans. I do think Rob is good looking but I think he's a lot more than that. Believe me I don't think he would still have a career after 12 years if he was only a pretty face. The guy has some serious musical talent. Honestly, I just think you don't *get it.* That's okay but don't put the rest of us down that do *get it.*
