Rob was on Facebook and posted send me your favorite tour moments. He was referring to THIS tour of course, but I only had one show - and it was a great show. But it got me to reminising about the past and how I have had some pretty spectacular stand out moments with matchbox twenty and Rob. I'll share mine, but I'ld love to hear some of yours too:

Three standout moments and I won't remember the year, sorry...

Virginia - matchbox twenty - Sugar Ray was the opener and it was their last show of the tour. (Many of you GDers were there! I was there with my oldest son Justin)...while they were playing (in their mexican outfits), a bunch of ping pong balls were dropped on them from the lighting guys....the continued to play and we all laughed....I could see Pookie and Rob, Adam and all off to the side of the stage laughing too. Next NINJAs dressed in black shimied down some ropes from above the stage and pretended to attack Sugar Ray....they continued to play but were laughing....

Rob/matchbox takes the stage. Explained that it is tradition to prank the opener bands on their last day, the problem being that pay back is a Bitch and you don't know what or when they will get you back, but they will get you back. We all laughed.

Matchbox played..and we all are watching for something to happen, and then Rob sings Bent. The stage had a two sided platform that allowed you to walk up or down the steps on either side behind Paul who was drumming. Behind the platform was a giant screen and when Bent was being sung, rob was on top of the platform and the video with Adam drivng the car crazily was showing behind Rob....and then it changed to a tennis match. We all laugh and pointed, Rob still singing looks behind him and smiles...then the scene changed to Sugar Ray, dressed only in their mexican hats, a mb20 thong (with their naked butt cheeks hanging out and their shillallee covered strategically) and of course sneakers and socks....the big screen captured everything they did - Rob still singing, band not missing a beat....Sugar Ray split up and climbed the steps to the platform where Rob was.....they formed a conga line with Rob and the middle - Rob still singing, never faltered but had a huge grin on his face...and the audience went wild....Then in the conga line, Rob had his hand on someone's butt, then they would switch and go the other way with his hand on someone else's butt.....amazingly untilt he song was finished. Naked Sugar Ray will forever be burned in my brain.

My second standout moment - My first time to New York City..and first time by myself...was by the invite of Deb the goat. she wanted to know if I wanted to go see mb20 on the Carson Daley show - HELL YEAH. I had never met Deb before, only talked with her for years on the boards...I hopped a bus that took over 5 hours and they dropped me off in a very busy bus station - we knew what each other looked like but it was a little intimidating looking for her in this Huge, busy bus station. She found ME and loaded me into her special van. She used to own (with 4 others) the Magic Bus called Gus - the original van owned by mb20 back in the day when they had to drive themselves to gigs. I'm guessing Rob may not have the same fondness I do for gus....their new album More than U think U R was blasting through the speakers as Deb drove us around New York, - she let me stay at her home in NJ where I met Nia, Beth, and a bunch more peeps. Then she drove us to the show - my first tv show, first time in New York....first time meeting alot of GDers...it was amazing. Kevin James was one of the guests....but they shot the show in a different sequence then what you see when it airs....that evening or sometime that weekend, mb20 was playing at the David Lettermen show at the old Ed Sullivan Show... we stood outside on a very cold November night and a good part of the day, hoping to get tickets (but that show had an entire town as audience members) so we did not get tickets. We did get to see mb20 and their lovely significant others slip into the theatre pre show and after the show. And what amazed me the most is every one of the boys looked over, saw Deb the Goat, and made sure to come over and greet her and give her a hug. Recognizing that she had been with them from the very start.

Jason was nearby at one point while we were waiting...and a young fan came up and asked if she could give the guys a gift. He said WHAT's in there? There's nothing WEIRD is there?

She said Weird, No, like what do you mean by weird????

I piped up "like BIG UNDERWEAR maybe???"

He laughed and said EXACTLY! The young girl said oh gawd no.

lol. (that was my first gift to the boys) - five HUMUNGOUS brightly patterned undies and it was HARD to find them that huge, let me tell you....with a tag that said a thong from your biggest fan. My plan was to throw them on stage like women used to do at Tom Jones concerts.....except they are normally little scantily things....mine were huge...lol...Ok, I'm just a LITTLE UNWELL.

My third standout concert/tour moment.

Florida, our last show with mb20 before Adam left the band. We stayed at Adam's Mark Hotel and delightfully discovered that Paul, Jason, Matt, and Pookie and all the road crew, Brian the Bus owner and Arnie the bus driver for Adam/Kyle were all staying there as well. We stayed there for two nights.

The night we arrived, we were headed to the bar and met up with Lisa, Erin, my buddy Rob from Boston, Crystal and I....while we were in the lobby we see a group of peeps talking with Paul, who was barefooted with an ice bucket. We waited our turn and we spoke to him too. He was very sweet. Then we were chatting with Arnie the bus driver - who remembered Lisa from a previous meeting. He invited us all for a drink in the bar and treated us. We then treated him to a drink. He treated us to a bite to eat. We enjoyed Arnie emenensly, very entertaining fellow. by now Arnie had a little bit to drink - it was his night off, after all. He said do you like Lynard Skynard? I love Lynard Skynard...he was telling us he had driven for them before...hey, do you want to go listen to some music? I want to dance, do you want to dance? Well it was late and there was no place within walking distance that we could go dance. He said I got a place, come on the bus!! We were like REALLY????!! Of course we said yes! so there we find our selves - a very surreal moment in my life - on the mb20 bus (Adam and Kyles bus - complete with a nerf basketball hoop, big screen tv...small especially with Arnie, Crystal, me, Rob (ready2fly) and Lisa. Arnie cranked Lynard Skynard and we danced to about 4 songs BLASTING from the speakers....but about half way through we hear a bang on the bus door. We stopped and wide-eyed looked at each other....thinking it was Jason and he was gonna bust some heads...but it was Brian, the bus owner and driver for Rob's bus. He said WHAT IS GOING ON HERE????? Armie sheepishly says "We're dancing". Brian looks at each one of us with a raised eyebrow and says OH. Ok. he cranked the music back up and then flipped the light switch on and off on and off like a disco while we continued to dance and laughed our butts off. Then Arnie said he was toast. Offered to have my friend Crystal join him upstairs (she declined) and we called it a night.

The following day, I had some "gifts - not big underwear either" for the boys and Jason said I could give them to them - the boys were headed to the sound check before our show. I was able to give Paul his gifts and asked him give Kyle the bag (Kyle and rob and Adam were with family members and not at this hotel).

While waiting for Pookie to come out....Paul came off the bus and walked up to me. He said Thank you for my gifts....I like Kyles even better though.

I said you give those to Kyle MISTER. he laughed. he said do you know why I was barefoot and in the lobby last night?

I had a very unrock star moment. I left my keys in my room when I went down the hall for Ice. Thank GOD all I took off was my shoes....you saw me in the lobby cause I needed them to come let me back in my room.

Ha ha....

Okay guys -let me hear your favorite moments....

Wait - one more - I never caught a drumstick or a guitar pick until this one show. don't remember when, but most likely 2003.

I had a sign in the shape of a guitar pic, that read "Adam, may I have a pic?"

I was like 7 rows back...and I held my sign up. Adam smiled and nodded at me.

He flung a pic, but it whizzed by my head and off to my left. The crowd descended on it like seagulls on a hotdog roll.

So I held my sign up again....

He nodded and flung another one. Again over shot his mark and the seagulls scooped it up again....

I held it one more time...this time Ads bends down to Jason in front of the stage at a break in the song and points my way.

He motions me to come forward. Crystal pushed me so hard from my spot, I went sprawling over someone in a wheel chair in our row...

then ran up to Jason. He says WHAT?

I'm here for a pic from Adam.

He says, this is for someone that had a sign.

That WAS ME!

I don't see a sign, where's your sign?

I turned to go get my sign, all flustered, and he grabs my arm. MARE, just messing with ya, here's your pic.

D'oh. finally got me a pic. And an Adam pic at that.

Hi Mare,

I was at the VA Beach show with Sugar Ray too. To this day, I do not hear Bent without the image of that conga line burned in my brain!
