I've always loved You Won't Be Mine for its depth with simplicity, especially when Rob performs it live with only the piano. It is simply an incredible song, even when stripped of almost all instrumentation. I would say especially when stripped of almost all instrumentation.

I feel similarly about Now Comes the Night. It is clean and simple, allowing the beauty of the song, in its words and melody, to carry the weight.

I've read many posts about how Rob's songs seem to speak directly to people's feelings, pasts, or situations--as if Rob is singing about them or to them. I'd never had that experience in that sudden-intake-of-breath way until yesterday, when I heard Now Comes the Night. I actually cried as I listened, because it spoke to a private, specific, and very frightened part of me. It's a song of soothing and of assurance and, for at least as long as the song played, I felt soothed and assured.

I'm a little apprehensive about how I'll react when in a couple of weeks, I'll hear this song live. For me, life is about experiencing different kinds of emotions, so I suppose all I can say to myself is, "Bring it on."

Thank you, Rob.

I haven't heard the song yet, but have experienced that 'sudden intake of breath' with a couple of Robs songs. It's one of the reasons I love his music so much.

It's almost like he knows something about you that no one else does and understands.
Geeze that sounds sappy but that's how it touches me.

Can't wait to hear the whole CD.

Caroline

I love the song too, sooooooooo much, Riki.
sent the vh1 link to my Sis last night, who's taste in music in general is somewhat louder, she replied:

Thank you for a beautiful evening, i'll let it end with NOW COMES THE NIGHT, so did I!

Exactly. Isn't it amazing how so many of us seem to feel as if he's speaking directly to us. It's almost spiritual...(says that without meaning to be freaky about it).

He's GOT to be a very spiritual person. It's all in his lyrics.

On second thought, you know the more I listen to that song, the more I feel it was written by him for Mari.

*sigh*

And that's what's another thing that is so wonderful about him...his love for his wife. How can you NOT love him for that and for the way he expresses it?

Every woman should have a man like Rob Thomas in their lives...thankfully, I've got mine. Even if he's not as expressive as dear Rob, I know he feels it.

*starts to get teary eyed* Ack! I think I might have to chance our wedding song now...

*hugs Riki tightly*

I'm not surprised that song "spoke" to you, baby...

It's beautiful.

I sure wish you were going to be with me in SF (or me at YOUR shows) so we could hold each other up and sob together.

*sighs*

Miss you madly.

YUGE HUGS and a lil SMOOCH, too

I so agree with you Riki. I, too, had tears in my eyes with that song and with All that I am. Like someone else said, it's very spiritual and passionate. The passion in Rob's voice is what drew me to him in the first place. I am thoroughly enjoying this whole cd. I can't get away from the computer! Smiler

That song made me cry as well! I've only heard it once, but all I could say to myself the whole time it was playing was "oh my God, oh my God!"

I really haven't had the opportunity to "soak up" this album yet. Once I get the CD and am able to blast it in my car, the tears will be flowing endlessly I'm sure!!!!

Rob's love for Mari comes through loud and clear on this CD. They're such an inspiration for couples everywhere!!

love and strength to you and yours-rob and mari

That's what I assume as well.

It's comforting to know I'm not the only one who feels the strength of this song. Thanks to all of you for letting me know!

I think only you understand the song's full meaning to me and can understand its impact.

I'm so sad not to experience hearing that song, and one of Rob's shows in general, with you, Nedra. I'm holding out hope we WILL be able to during the "big tour." And you may have to hold me up during Now Comes the Night. I'll try to have worked the song into my bones by then.

Much love.

Yes, I believe I DO understand, my dear.

Wish I could CHANGE some of that for you...

I can't believe I'm not doing these shows with my best friend.

Hell, that just SUCKS!!!

*sighs heavily*

Even with the big tour on the horizon, it's THESE I wanna share with you!

DAMMIT!

Love you, Riki!
