love this song also.... i had introduced a guy i was "involved with" to Robs album and when this song was played... it reminded him of me and vice versa... it was weird coz we both felt it at the same time. such depth, meaning, love.. feelings.. awsome!

OK I gotta chime in here !! This is absolutely my favourite song on the album. I was flying home from Australia in May and had my player with STB in it and it's a 3 hour flight and I don't really like flying that much. So I put Ever The Same on repeat, got out my journal and started to write a letter to the man I am in love with (who is not in love with me).

I took each line of the song and wrote about it in context and my feelings and the hopelessness and acceptance, how much I care for him and how I need to let him go. Well, 3 hours and about 12 pages later I got off the plane feeling so much better about everything.

And now I have this remarkable letter all based around each word in this wonderful song by the world's best song writer. Thanks Rob.

You probably don't really know the impact of your talent, your sensitivity, your skill and your love on us fans but it is HUGE !!!

Love Jill from New Zealand

Being a breast cancer survivor myself (diagnosed at age 29), this song goes straight to my heart. It brings back good and not-so-good feelings that I never knew I had. It's been 7 years (and still cancer free), but I've always put my cancer experience behind me as oppose to embracing it like some do. Ever the Same has, in some way, brought me to terms with it. It's strange. My husband was wonderful during my illness and is probably responsible for saving my life. I can relate to the lyrics of this song on SUCH a personal level that it is sometimes even difficult to listen to (even though it is one of my favorite songs!).
Thanks, Rob, for putting down such deep and personal feelings into such a beautiful song which has obviously touched so many of us!

Well, maybe I spoke too soon about being cancer free. I don't mean to be a downer...but now I'm very scared. I went to the doctor for a routine exam and my blood work came back abnormal. Not good. In seven years this has never happened. They repeated the blood work today and I'll find out tomorrow. WISH ME LUCK AND MAYBE EVEN SAY A LITTLE PRAYER FOR ME!!! Thanks All!

I'm saying a prayer for you now. Good luck!

ever the same is my favorite too. as i'm sure a lot of you know i was really sick before and the words of this song are the words i imagined a man saying to me when iw as sixteen and the world was dark and scary and i was sick as hell and no one knew what was wrong
the weird thing is i actually just imagined someone like rob holding me and saying all that
it's a great song, i lvoe it it's so beautiful and i could go on and on forever..

The song is one of my favourites as well.
It's because I can hear that song in a really sad moment and it helps me to cheer up and even if it won't help it will make me remember that soon everything will be alright again. But I can also listen to it when I'm in a really good mood and it while make me smile even more...I don't know why it is like that actually...just how I feel about it.
And I like that instrumental part at the end of the song, that just touches my heart.
I think that's actually what I love about song most, everytime I here it, it touches my heart!

You are in my thoughts! **sending lots of good vibes your way**

As for the song, I love it too. It has incredible personal meaning to me. I heard it right after a personal loss and it seemed to mirror what was happening in my own life--because I have my husband's support I am better able to cope with it. Smiler
