“What happened?” Nirayne asked me.
“Well I don’t have to divorce my wife anymore.” I said and she looked at me.
“Why?” She asked me.
“Be.. Because. She. She’s dead.” I said as a few unexpected tears dripped from my eyes.
“Are you serious?” She said with a bit more enthusiasm than sadness.
“Yes she is gone.” I said getting up from the bed.
“Well how did it happen?” She asked me lifting her head not budging from the bed.
“I think she burned to death. Aurora said I let her die and that the house burned down and that she hated me.” I said.
“Wow strong words coming from a 6 year old.” She said.
“That’s all you can say!?!? I ruined my child’s life to be with you. And all you can say is strong words for a 6 year old. I don’t care if she was fucking 2! My wife is dead now and its all my fault!” I yelled and fell to the floor in anguish. The anxiety was getting to me. I could feel the asthma attack coming on. I walked over to my coat pocket and grabbed my inhaler. My breathing slowed after a few moments and I realized that it really was my fault and that if I had been home with my wife and kids then none of this would have ever happened. I through on some clothes to go looking for my baby girl.
“Where are you going?” Nirayne asked me.
“To find my child” I said and bounced out of the door.
I went to the neighbors house. They said they seen her run off. I went to Diairah’s house.
“Louis my nigga what’s up?” Naji said opening the door.
“Where id Diairah. Better yet have you seen Aurora?” I asked him.
“Your daughter? Nah man why what happened?” He asked me.
“My house burned down when I was over Nirayne’s house and Táchira died in the fire. Aurora called me after words and said some real hurtful shit to me. Im just trying to find my baby girl.” I said and wiped my tears.
“It going to be aight man she probably over her grandmother house or something. Just chill here and me ,Lindie and Gabrielle will help you look in the morning okay” He said letting me inside. I slid down on the couch.
“Man I was thinking about getting my life together. I wanted to come home and be a father and husband to my family. I was going to do it soon. But I was to late man. Please you need to try and turn your life around. You either need to divorce Diairah and marry one of those girls. Or leave them alone and get your wife back. Where is she anyway?” I asked.
“I don’t know man I guess at her parents house. I do miss her but I was young when I married her and I still am. I do love her man but I’m just trying to live out the things I was never able to do you know?” He said.
“Yeah but what about your continuous beatings?” I asked him.
“Man go to bed.” He said and walked up stairs. I cut off the broken lamp light and went back to sleep.}
