Do any of you have any phobias? I have an extremly serious one. I know I talked about this before, but this board is my only outlet.

Coat Wearing Phobia

I have always been a very self conscious person. I think this is due to me being raised in a household that constantly crticized people. I kinda overcame the phase when I thought I was ugly. But an even bigger problem arose when I was 12 and almost 13. A problem that is now appearing not to be just a phase. One that follwed me all the way from age 12 to age 19. When I was 12 and a half I began to wear coats. youre thinking: okay. But let me explain. I began to gain a few pounds. I started trying to cover up by wearing big clothes, like huge t-shirts (and i wasnt even that big). And then something clicked in my brain. I thought that I wasnt hiding my extra pounds well enough so I began to wear coats. It began as basic coats, hoodies. But over the years it spiraled to larger coats. I always wear a coat even when its super hot and people think im crazy, in which I am starting to believe I am. I never take it off ever. THOSE TINY LITTLE MOMENTS THAT YOU ALL TAKE FOR GRANTED, YOU KNOW, WHEN YOU GET A LITTLE OVERHEATED AND REMOVE YOUR JACKETS. I wish with all of me that I could do that. All the times I was presented with a position that I may have to remove my jacket, I nearly had panic attacks. And I pray that situations don't arise that I have to take it off. I don't know what to do, this situation is getting old. Not to mention its destroying my life. I don't know if i'll ever take it off.

WOW ITS FUNNY CAUSE I USE TO HAVE THAT SAME PROBLEM BAK IN MIDDLE SKOOL....UR NOT CRAZY UR JUS A LITTLE INSECURE ABOUT SOMETHING, DA BEST ADVICE I CAN GIVE U IS IF U HAVE YOUR OWN ROOM, TRY STAYIN LOCKED IN YOUR ROOM WITHOUT A COAT ON AND SEE HOW GOOD IT FEELS.....AND SLOWLY TRY WALKIN OUT DA ROOM DEN OUT THE HOUSE...

That is actually a good idea. I mean when I'm in my private space I take it off. But not around my family ever, well only mom. It just hurts because sometimes I can feel her. I can feel her heart reaching out to me through the way she looks at me sometimes. I know shes thinking about my phobia and my weight because when she does, she always makes a suggestion about surgery or pills. Or tell me that it has guys that arent thinking about my weight. When at that moment those thoughts arent even in my mind. And that hurts my feelings and I tell her in my own way but she continues to do it. Sometimes when you think youre building someone up youre really breaking them down.

its mostly girls that do that.
i used to do that when i was younger
now i dont.

but im scared of spiders && roaches.
like i can be in a room with a roach, but it has to be on the other side.
BUT A SPIDER, i cant look at them on t.v., books, nothing.

Yes. Roaches are creepy LoL

I had the same problem, also. In the 8th & 9th grade I wore my jacket all the time. Cause I was insecure. But I gained some confidence from somewhere & I'm happy that I did.

I'll be some YEARS behind. If I EVER do take it off.

my friend madness (syl) doesnt eva take off her coat she wears it all the tym even in da summer she won't take off her coat its kinda annoyin cuz she wears coat throught da whole yr and if itz not a coat itz a hoodie wen da teacher tells her 2 take off her coat she has a fit
