Chapter One - This Sucks!

~*Ariana’s POV*~

I miss my room. I miss my friends. I just miss ATL period. Cincinnati is gonna be sooooooooo boring, they don’t know how to get it crunk up there…Man, I wanna go home.

I bet you’re probably wondering what’s going on. Well let me start by introducing myself. My name is Ariana Janée Wright and I am seventeen years old. My mother and I are sitting in a truck on our way to Cincinnati right now. I really don’t want to go but I have no choice. You see, my mother works for this company and they transferred her to their Cincinnati office. I wanted to stay in Atlanta with my great-grandmother but my mom thought it best I come with her, that way I wouldn’t get into too much trouble. Trouble? I haven’t gotten into any trouble so far. I guess she’s just being a ‘good parent.’ And she is a good parent, or at least I think so anyway. And you don’t hear too many teenagers say that. Most of them hate their parents. I guess I’m an exception. I love hanging out with my mom. But she can be a pain sometimes. That’s only because she wants the best for me. That’s why she took this job in the first place. After my dad died we kind of fell on hard times. My mom was working two jobs and we hardly spent any time together. The job she has now isn’t the best job in the world, but it pays good…really good. She makes more now than she did on both of her old jobs combined. So I understand why she she’s going to Cincinnati instead of finding another job. I just don’t understand why she has to drag me with her.

Chapter Two - The Arrival.

My mother pulled into the driveway of an extraordinarily beautiful house. My jaw dropped in amazement as I stared at it in awe of its beauty.

Alena (my mother)-“This is it,” she said to me as she took the key out of the ignition. “Ari, honey, are you OK?”
Ariana-“Yeah….I’m fine. It’s just that this house is so beautiful.”
Alena- “I know. I thought you’d like it.”

I know she bought this house for me, so I would be more comfortable with the move. She was more into ranch-style homes and country chic. Whereas I…I love tri-levels with a modern contemporary vibe. I don’t know why. There’s just something about them that’s just so inviting and cozy. Well, I guess that’s why, right there.

Ariana-“Like it? I love it!”
Alena- “That’s good to hear,” she said to me while smiling. “Now get your ass out and help me unload this truck,” she ordered as she opened the door and jumped down.

I got out and went around to the back of the truck while my mother unlocked the front door. I sat on the ledge and waited for the other two U-Hauls to arrive. My sister Shannon and her husband were driving one, and my grandfather and Uncle Larry were driving the other. All of these people weren’t going to be living with us; they were just helping us move. My mom came out of the house as everyone else pulled up.

It was a beautiful Friday morning. The sun was shining, birds were singing, and there wasn’t a cloud in sight. This neighborhood seemed to be OK so far. It was pretty quiet and peaceful, but then again it was only ten o’clock.

Chapter Three – Welcome to the Neighborhood!

We were almost finished unloading the truck with all the furniture. A lady who looked to be about my around my mother’s age, and a girl around my age walked across the street and up to the couch my mother, my sister, and I were sitting on.

Alena-“Can I help you?”
Lady-“We’re your neighbors from across the street. We just wanted to come over to introduce ourselves and welcome you to the neighborhood,” the lady said with a warmhearted smile. “I’m Yvette and this is my daughter Krysteena.”

She waved at us with a huge grin on her face. How could two people possibly be so happy to meet strangers?

Alena-“Well my name is Alena, this is my baby Ariana, and my oldest Shannon.”
Yvette-“Baby? Why she looks like a grown woman.”
Ariana-“I’m seventeen.”
Krysteena-“Me too. When’s your birthday?”
Ariana-“July?”
Krysteena-“Great, you’re a newbie too.”
Ariana-“Newbie?” I asked looking confused.
Krysteena-“Yeah. It means you’re newly seventeen, like me. My birthday’s in June, I’m a Gemini.”

Why the hell are you telling me all of your business like I care? I don’t know yo ass. Take a nap and calm the fuck down.

Ariana-“Oh, that’s good to know,” I said as if I were actually interested in the gibberish she was talking.
Yvette-“So do you guys need any help?”
Ariana-“Not really, there’s five of us,” I quickly responded, trying to get rid of them.

Now I know what you’re thinking. Damn she’s evil. Right? Well I’m not a mean person, and it’s not that I don’t like these people. It’s just that I don’t know them and I’m not in a very good mood. I’m sitting over here all upset and depressed and here they come all perky. I have to say it was quite annoying.

Shannon-“Well actually we could use a few more hands. It would help us get done a lot faster.”
Ariana-“Whatever.”

They help us finish unloading the trucks and we all sit on the deck in the backyard. We were all a little hungry so we decided to order some pizzas. We ate and talked for a couple of hours.

Chapter Four- Is She on Drugs?

Yvette-“Krysteena, why don’t you take Ariana out and show her around the city? I mean if that’s OK with you Alena.”

Please say no. Please say no. God please let her say no.

Alena-“Yeah, it’s fine with me.”

Damnit. Why didn’t you say no?

I really don’t feel like going anywhere right now. I just wanna go upstairs and start unpacking my clothes.

When she got to the front door she stopped, turned, and looked me up and down.

Krysteena-“You’re not going to wear that, are you?”
Ariana-“Um yeah,” I responded while looking at her as if she were stupid.
Krysteena-“Well if you’re gonna go to the mall with me you can’t wear that,” she said to me while she turned her nose up.
Ariana-“All the rest of my clothes are in boxes right now, so it looks like I’m wearing this,” I told her with a hint of attitude.
Krysteena-“C’mon, I have something you can wear.”
Ariana-“You don’t know me.”
Krysteena-“I’d rather let someone I don’t know wear an outfit than go to the mall with them looking like that.”
Ariana-“It’s just a beater and sweat pants.”
Krysteena-“I know, but around here if you go out looking like that you will get clowned.”
Ariana-“Whatever.”

We went across the street to her house and up to her room. She looked down at my shoes then went into her closet. A couple of minutes later she came out holding a navy blue, Baby Phat halter top with a turquoise cat on the front and the matching white jeans.

Krysteena-“Here, this’ll work,” she said as she laid the clothes on her bed.
Ariana-“I have the exact same outfit.”
Krysteena-“For real?”
Ariana-“Yeah, same color and everything.”
Krysteena-“We might have to be twins one day.”
Ariana-“Yeah, maybe.”

What the hell is wrong with this bitch Is she on drugs or something? She’s just a little too friendly for me.

Ariana-“Is there somewhere I can change?”
Krysteena-“Yeah. The bathroom is down the hall, second door on the left.”

I went to the bathroom to change my clothes. Apparently she had changed her clothes while I was gone because she was wearing a different outfit. We went to the car. As soon as we got in she popped in a mixed cd. The first song that played was ‘Stepped on My Js’ by Nelly, JD, and Ciara.

Ariana-“Aw, this is my shit,” I said as I started to dance to the song a little.
Krysteena-“I love this song. I can’t wait for his album to come out. I’m going straight to fye to cop it. I know it’s hot.”
Ariana-“It is. I heard most of it already.”
Krysteena-“Where?”
Ariana-“He let me hear it.”
Krysteena-“You know Nelly?” she asked excitedly.
Ariana-“Yeah, I was in the video.”
Krysteena-“Fa real?”
Ariana-“Yup.”
