“Girl, don’t even trip he trifling’” the girl said to me.

“I’m Christina by the way.”

“I’m Nicole” She gave me a hug. I wiped my tears and started to run down the stairs so I could just get the hell out of this place.

As I left the front door and began my journey to the bus stop I heard someone coming up and running behind me. I turned around and it was him.

The guy who saved me.

I didn’t expect anything much from him because I figured he would use this as an opportunity to take advantage of the situation if you know what I mean.

“Aye gurl!!” he shouted as he ran up to me.

“What?” I said with attitude.

“Damn that’s what I get for helping you out?” he replied looking confused.

“Well what do you want then?”

“Look I was just trying to check up and see if you were okay.”

“Well I’m fine.” I said trying to keep the conversation as short as can be,

“Look, I don’t know what your problem is but I am not the one you need to be catching an attitude with, I didn’t do anything to hurt you. I’m sorry that he did, but you cant even try to put that on me.” He said registering some thoughts in my head. At this point I couldn’t even disagree with what he was saying I knew he was right. He didn’t do anything wrong to me. I should be appreciative and not so damn rude, damn why do I always have to act like this?

“Your right, I’m sorry, and thank you for what you did. I don’t really want to know what would have happened if you didn’t come in there with your girl.”

“Girl? Naww that ain’t my girl, she just a friend. So you got a name?” he questioned.

I did a little innocent smile. “Yea, I’m Nicole.” I said extending my hand.

He took my hand and kissed it very seductively. “Pleasures mine Nicole, I’m Spectacular.”

“Nice to meet you too.”

“Nicole, can I ask you a question?”

“Umm, I guess??” I said puzzled.

“What in the hell are you doing out here at the bus stop when the busses stopped running an hour ago?” He questioned me while laughing a little bit.

Damn, that was all I needed right now. How in the hell could I have forgotten that? Shit, now I really don’t know what to do. I feel stupid cause I act as if I knew exactly what I was doing standing out here.

“Shoot, I can’t believe I forgot that” I said trying to play it off as much as possible.

“Look you got another way of getting home?”

I tried thinking my only way home was Ashley. I asked him if he had a cell phone which he did and I texted her telling her it was me and I needed a way home. She replied back in no time. Great, she already left and was at some guys house. Shoot, now I’m stuck thanks a lot Ashley.

“So you got a way home or what?”

I was quiet for a moment trying to get myself out of this situation. “No.” I finally replied meekly.

“Don’t worry I got chu. My brother will drive you home. Don’t worry you’ll be straight. Come on.” He pulled my hand and guided me back towards the party.

“Aye Corey, shorty here needs a ride home we finna dip now iight?” He said to his im guessing, brother. His brother had dreads and was pretty cute himself.

“Iight, not a problem.”

We waited a minute. He finally came back with this hood rat looking girl. I guess his thing for the night. We walked out to his car and got in, I was in the backseat with Spectacular. I still can’t believe I’m riding in this car with strangers. But, then again I don’t think he would save me to become a hypocrite.

“Aye guh where you live at?” Corey asked me from the drivers seat.

“38 Centennial, complex D”

“Iight.”

We were sitting there quietly for the most of the ride other than some music playing. That is until Spectacular started talking to me.

“You straight?”

“Yea, I’m cool”

“Look I aint gonna ask you for your number or any of that but ima give you mines. I want you to call me anytime of the day, don’t matter what time, for anything, you need help or you just hella bored and want someone to talk to ight?” He said looking sincere.

I looked at him kind of funny. What in the hell would I need from him?

I took the number out of his hand and said, “Iight but I doubt I will, so don’t get your hopes up.” trying to be flirtatious. He smiled and said “Iight ma.” We pulled up to my complex and I thanked Corey for the drive and then thanked Spectacular for all his helped. I got out and ran up my steps and safely got in. They drove off. All I could think of was what a night. Damn this is the exact reason why I don’t be going out in the first place.

I had a shower, put on my night clothes and went straight into my bed.

It was now Monday, Saturday I worked and after that I did a little bit of shopping, what I could afford. Sunday I went to church and felt revitalized ready for the rest of the week.

I was at school and Ashley didn’t hesitate to tell me all about her weekend, everything from the party, the guy she met there, through to Saturday and Sunday. Now, don’t get me wrong, she my girl and all, but home girl gets around. I been telling her from time that she is looking for love in all the wrong places and that she needs to settle down with just one man, but she is not trying to hear that.

After her story, she asked me about the party and if I had fun. I told her what had happened and she was shocked that Jelani would pull something like that. I was over that by now, I know what men want and when they don’t get it, no telling what they could do. I also told her about Mr. Spectacular and how not only did he help me but how he got me a ride home also.

“Spectacular? Girl, are you serious? Hell no, hell to the mother fucking no. You playing with me right, Ain’t no way in hell will I ever let you talk to that boy, you understand me girl?” Ashley ranted.

“What the hell, girl what are you talking about, you know him?”

“Not him personally, but you better believe I know all about him. I do know his brother personally though, we was cutty buddies.”

“Who Corey?”

“Naww, Marcus.”

“Well what do you know about him, what’s so bad? And what does his brother have to do with any of this, you ain’t making sense right now.”

“Girl, brace yourself, your Spectacular and his brothers are known for just fucking with any female, all the time, they ain’t nothing but some dirty dogs. I heard so many stories, I couldn’t tell you them all if I had all the time in the world. They will tell you anything you want to hear. ANYTHING. I heard this one girl, was with Spectacular before, he worked so hard for her to give it up, she finally did after two weeks, after that, he dumped her the next day, told everyone not only what they did but that he thought she would last longer. They get who they want, anytime, no telling what diseases they got. ”

“Damn, I didn’t really expect that Ashley, if you knew that why did you mess with his brother?”

“Cause I ain’t know that before, But me and his brother it was a virtual agreement, we was strictly cutty buddys nothing more and neither of us cared, I still don’t, we both got what we wanted, but you, you girl, you aint like that and you don’t need to be, he aint gonna do nothing to you but break you out.”

“Chill Ashley I didn’t say me and the boy were dealing kay? All I said was he helped me, it aint like I got feelings for him, damn.”

“And you aint going to you hear me?”

“Iight damn, so what happened between yall, why aint yall messing around no more?”

“It just died out, plus I aint down with dealing with all the drama from the rest of his hoes.”

I could tell by the way Ashley was looking she was holding something back, something she didn’t want me to know, but I knew it was there. After that conversation, the bell rung, Lunch was over, we went our separate ways to our classes but, for some reason I couldn’t keep my mind off of Spectacualr and what she told me about him. I guess I could see it being so considering that he was bout to fuck that girl he came in the room with and told me it wasn’t his girl. I don’t know why I even care, he ain’t nothing but trouble and that’s the last thing I need right now.

When I got home, before I went to work, I found his number that he gave me and ripped it up. Ain’t no one getting in these panties. I laughed to myself and finished getting ready for work.
