Part One- Score!

It is freezing out here and aint nobody rollin by. But who in they right mind would be outside in this weather? It’s gotta be about 20 degrees out here. Maybe I just need to call it a night and go back home. But my child has nothing to eat. I gotta do this… but its almost hopeless. I been out here for like 20 minutes and nobody has even came. It’s Sunday and the club is closed. My car is not runnin, so I cant change my location. My only other option is to wait for somebody who is willing to give a favor for a favor.

As I started my walk back home, my eyes began to fill with tears. Another night wasted. Another night for my baby to starve. I felt as if I failed for the last time in life. I wanted to break down and cry. I felt a tear drop down. I quickly wiped the tear when another car drove up to me. He rolled his window down.

I just looked at him and thought, this could be my chance for a lil something. So I walked to the car, opened the door, and got in. He drove off

He reaches into his pocket and pulls out his wallet. He gives her the 55 she asked for.

Part Two- No Kisses for You

Arielle-Come on now Ja Ja you gotta lie still for mommy so I can put on your pamper now.

Finally she stays still long enough for me to put the pamper on her and get her dressed. Her little outfit was too cute. I gotta admit her daddy got good taste, which is a surprise because the nigga can just barely dress himself. Lol. I take her to the dining room and feed her some Gerber pears and a cereal bottle. All of a sudden I feel someone wrap their arms around my head.

Arielle-*muffled* Ah! Jarell stop!

He squeezes tighter.

Jarell-What’s my name?

Arielle-Nigga you better get off me!

I go back into our bedroom to get dressed. I decided to go with the traditional suit and pumps. I put my hair up into a slick bun and opted for my glasses instead of my contacts to complete the professional look I was trying to achieve today. I go to the living room and grab my coat along wit Ja’Relle’s.

Arielle-Ok sweet pea, it’s time to go to Nana’s.

Jarell-Just let me clean her face off right quick.

He goes into the kitchen. I take Ja’Relle out of her highchair and start to put her coat on. Jarell comes back into the dining room with a wet cloth. He wipes her face then I pick her up and start to walk towards the door.

Jarell-What, I don’t get a kiss goodbye?

Arielle-Why should you?

Jarell-Damn it’s like that?

Arielle-Yup.

I continue to walk until I feel him wraps his arms around my waist. At least it wasn’t my face this time. I turn around and kiss him.

Jarell-Now that’s more like it.

Arielle-Boy shut up.

Jarell-Bye baby, be a good girl for Nana.

He kisses her on her forehead, well the little bit that was exposed anyway. I walk out and he closes the door behind us. I was almost down the second flight of stairs when I heard him calling my name.

Arielle-What?

Jarell-I forgot to tell you I gotta work late tonight.

Arielle-Ok. I’ll see you when you get off.

Jarell-Aight. I love you.

Arielle-I love you too. Now go put some clothes on and take yo ass to work my nigga.

He just laughs and goes back into the apartment. I continue to walk out to my car. I open the door and put Ja’Relle in her car seat. I make sure she’s strapped in tight before I get in my self. I put the key in the ignition and head off to my mother’s house bumpin Lil' Wayne. Yes Lil' Wayne at 7:00 in the morning, you heard right.

I pull into my mother’s driveway and get out of my car. I take Ja’Relle out of her car seat and walk up to the door. I ring the doorbell and wait for an answer. Nothing. So I ring it again. Still nothing. I try one more time, and still nothing. I pull out my cell phone and call the house. It rings 5 times before someone picks up.

Arielle-Daddy can you come open the door please? It’s freezing out here.

Paul-I’ll be there in a sec honey.

He comes to the door and opens it. Immediately he takes Ja’Relle out of my arms.

Paul-Hey there pretty girl. You so pretty, yes you are. You just the prettiest little thing on this planet. Paw Paw missed you over the weekend.*rubbing his nose to hers* Yes he did, yes he did.

I don’t know why but Everytime I heard my father talking like that I just got weak. So I was just standing there laughing to myself while he played with my daughter, ignoring me I might add. I think it’s time to make my presence known.

Paul-Hey sweetheart.

Arielle-Where’s mom?

Paul-She’s still sleepin, she should be up pretty soon though.

Arielle-Ok. Well when she gets up could let her know that Ja Ja’s getting a cold and that her medicine is in her diaper bag?

Paul-Yeah no problem.

I give my daughter kiss on the cheek then leave. I get back in my car and drive to work.
