___ I sat in the corner of my 2 bedroom apartment crammed up in a small ball. I had my legs pulled to my chest with my arms wrapped around them. I cried. How could the only man I love do this to me ? I couldn't beleive The only man I trusted treated me like this. What did I do to deserve this type of treatment. I called up my girl Mani because I wanted her to be there with me. She was my best friend and I needed her by my side. I never really told her that I was getting abused. I always told her that we just got in a really bad argument and I fell. I knew the lie was getting old and was going to come out one day but for now it was my little secret. She came within 30 minutes and was there right next to me. she had me wrapped up in her arms and my face was buried in her shoulders. It hurt so bad. Why would any male want to hurt a female that way. I stayed crying in Mani's shoulder for about 10 minutes. she told me I could stay at her house. I grabbed my clothes for school in the morning and my toothbrush. I got to Mani's house and immediately went to the extra room. It was basically my room because half my shit was already in there. I looked in my wallet and looked at the picture of my baby girl. I cried some more. I missed her so much. She was in New York with my mom but she was coming back the on Friday night. I pulled back the covers on the bed and layed and tucked myself in. I thought about how Lanier can put his hands on me after what we been through. It hurt so bad. I turned over and cried myself to sleep. Mani-Keyshia wake up Keyshia-[ turning over to face the other direction ] Mani-Girl we got school Keyshia-[ yawns as she sits up in her bed ] I’m up Mani-Umm Lanier called last night Keyshia-[ puts her head down ] Mani-[ lifts her head ] baby girl don’t let that bull shit he do get to you. I lifted right back up and looked at my face. There was no marks on the outside but sure as hell they were on the inside. I ran some hot bath water and got in. I layed in and soaked for about 20 minutes then stood to shower it all off. I got out the shower and lotioned up with some Johnson’s baby lotion. I put on my underwear and bra set. Lanier bought that for me on Valentine’s Day. I put on this shirt and the matching skirt. I sprayed on some Far Away Paradise then brushed my teeth. I plugged up the straight iron and let it heat up while I went to go ask Mani if she had some gold heels. I looked in her closet and found these. I put them on and strapped them around my ankles. I put some moose in my hair and scrunched it all over. I parted one section in the front and used the straight iron the flatten it out. I went over several times before putting a thick gold glitter head band over it. I put some eyeliner and mascara and left the bathroom. I grabbed my purse and my phone and left my room. When we arrived at school I went straight to my class. Usually I would be the loudest one in the hall with the rest of my friends but today was different. I went to my locker to get my spanish folder and book. I walked back to the class and stood outside the door. As I was standing there I seen my big cousin Spec walk down the hall with what seemed to be a new friend. If he wasn’t I had never seen him before. I ignored his appearance and waited for the teacher to come. about 5 minutes later he came and unlocked his door. I went in and sat at the desk in the last row , last seat. The annoying ass bell rung and the rest of the kids started to come in the class. It rung again signaling that class had started. Senora Garcia started off the class by giving us a daily warm up called La Esponja [ the sponge ]. I wrote it down and translated it then layed my head down. I was tapped on the shoulder. I looked up and it was my friend Mariah. Mariah-[ hands me a paper ] here girl Keyshia-[ reads the note and balls it up ] nothing really I’m fine Mariah-anyways did you see that new boy Keyshia-was he with Spec ? Spec stopped me to say Hi and i kept walking to my class. I had keyboarding skills next. I don’t know why I had to take that class. I went in and sat at my assigned computer. Ding Ding Ding ! Chapter 2:The New Boy
___ I stared at the blank computer screen. What the fuck was I suppose to do. I took out my phone and went to new text. ___ To: Beautiful Damn ma, that skirt is huggin all da right spots --- The teacher came over to assist me. She asked me if I ever typed with the home the home row keys. “Hell No” was my response. She laughed as she placed my left fingers on asdf and my right fingers on jkl;. She told me to put my two thumbs on the space bar. this shit was complicating as hell. My phone vibrated in my pocket I looked over the computer to see Keyshia putting her phone back in her purse and continuing to type. Damn she was sexy as fuck. She could just sit there with the meanest look on her face and still kill any bitch in this school. I started typing some shit off the piece of paper that the teacher put in front of me. My name as Colby Cantrell. I’m from Miami, Florida. I’m 19 years old and about to graduate up out of school. I got a girl. She go by the name of Ceasia. I been with her for about 2 years now. We don’t really have no problems foreal its just that we ain’t seen each other since school started and that’ really getting to me. I loved this girl to death. I looked over at Keyshia again and put my head down. She really caught my eye. He told me to order him a number 1 [ Big Mac meal ] with a large frie and a sweet tea. Amber ordered her a McChicken with a medium frie and a sweet tea. I looked back at Keyshia who was sitting back and playing with her fingers. She was so damn beautiful. I don’t know what made me feel this way about her. When she looked up at me with those beautiful hazel eyes and those pearly white teeth it made me want to melt. “What you want” I asked her. She ordered her a number 9 [ Chicken nugget meal ] with a small sprite. I could kind of tell that she was nervous the way her voice cracked through her words. She took a five dollar bill out of her purse and tried to hand it to me. “ Nah lil mama, I got you” “Boy no take this money”, We argued back and forth on who was going to pay for the food. I drove up to the front window and handed her the money. I guess she could have called herself mad because I bought her food. The way she ate even made me like her more. I was crazy about her. I wanted to make conversation. My head was turning in a circle now. What was I going to say ? My dad was my hero and Talaysia was like my own daughter. Now I have my own Talaysia. the memory will always lay upon her. My mom was in the back getting ready for a date. It was cute. I called Lanier over for one beacause I didn't want to be alone and two so he could eehis daughter. My mom left and I waited for him to arrive.When I called him he said he was on his way.On his was was 2 hours later after me and Lay Lay fell asleep on the couch. He banged on the door like he was the police waking up me and the baby. Keyshia-[ cracking the door and seeing who it was ] what the fuck is wrong with you Lanier-[ pushing his way through the door ] Where Laysia Keyshia-well excuse the hell out of me [ slams the door shut and walks to the couch ] Lanier-Keyshia don't start with me i'm not in the mood Keyshia-and i'm not never in the mood Lanier-[ waking her up ] Daddy missed you momma Lay Lay-[ yawning ] ma ma Keyshia-[ walks in the backroom ] i'm going to bed Lanier-Going to bed ! Chapter 3:A little closer
I rolled over in my bed tossing and turning.Something wasn't right.I turned over once more and didnt feel my baby.I jumped up and thrw the covers off of me.I know she aint get her ass up and walk out.The bed was to high off the ground.The first face to come to my mind was Lanier. I stopped.I looked at myself and kind of laughed inside.My mom just looked at me and laughed.I went back in my room and looked in my dresser.I took out my dark black jean shorts and my back and red aeropoastale. I also got out my black cami. I was plugging up the iron when my cell phone stated to ring I fly like paper,get high like planes,if you catch me at the border i got visas in my name,if you come around here It was a unknown number. I took a quick one because it was already 8:30.I washed my hair and then my body. I turned off the water and got out. I wrapped my towel around me and did my hair first. My shit was nappy as fuck. I was mixed with Black and Italian. I had that good good shit. I put it a high top ponytail and threw on a red and black ribbons on it. I put on my Victoria’s Secret underwear and bra set then my clothes. I put the black aeropostale up under the red one. So that the black collar would show over top of the red one. I put on some baby phat goddess lotion and then brushed my teeth. As i was brushing I heard my TV get louder and then I heard Lay Lay screaming.I opened up the bathroom door to see her jumping up and down butt naked on my bed with the wiggles[ Disney show ].I laughed then went back to brushing my teeth. The next 2 days was kind of good until I had to start decorating for my daughters first birthday. I needed help cause I couldn’t do it alone. I called up Amber and Mani to come and help. Her theme was going to be the Disney Princesses. I heard a knock on my mom’s apartment door and looked through the peep hole. For some reason Colby popped out of the bunch to me. I seen his face first, I opened the door and let them in the house Keyshia-[ letting them in ] I thought I said Amber and Jamani Spec-[ playfully ] I mean my nigga we can leave Keyshia-[ puts up 2 fingers ] deuces Spec-you know you don’t want Collllllllllbyy to leave Keyshia-If he with you then he gone have to Colby-Lil mama that’ petty Keyshia-[ smiles ] let me go get my shoes Amber-mhmm hurry up We Left. Did she really like me ? Thats the only thing I wanted to know. When we pulled up to Wal-Mart I got out the car and started walking towards the store. I had alot of stuff on my mind right now. I looked at Keyshia as she speed walked past me and right into the store. She must have been really heated. I wanted to talk to her. I needed to talk to her. I ran up behind to catch up with her. As I got closer to her the more nervous I got. Colby-you aight Ma Keyshia-[ looks back at him ] yeah i’m fine Colby-[ grabbing a shopping cart ] here you go Keyshia-thanks [ grabs the cart ] Colby-I’m really sorry for what they was saying in the car Keyshia-no you don’t have to be [ grabbing some hamburger buns and hot dog buns ] they just immature Colby-[ laughs ] what kind of soda’s you getting Keyshia-[ thinks ] i only drink Dr. Pepper Colby-[ smiles ] Me to Keyshia-[ laughs ] you have the cutest smile Colby-yours is prettier Keyshia-[ blushes ] thanks [ grabs some hot dogs ] so where you from Colby-Miami Keyshia-[ stops walking ] and what made you move to Kentucky Colby-My momma Keyshia-awwww [ keeps walking ] I bet you miss it there Colby-I do but I don- Keyshia-[ phone rings ] Hello. .i’m at the store buying stuff for Lay Lay’s birthday. .does it matter.
