Walking out of the building feeling the suns rays upon myself, the busy street of L.A. couldn’t break through the silence of Bobby and myself. Whatever she been filling her so called brother head up with needed to stop because ol boy got me twisted. After returning to my home town once again to a heart filled with memories of my first real love showed me that this is just a distraction testing my loyalty once again. Standing there with my bags in my hand waiting for a cab, Bobby stood in front of me with a look of question. “What‘s wrong Marcus? Its obvious my brother left an impression on you, so go ahead on and speak.” she said standing in my midst, but my eyesight continued looking ahead. I’m not going to lie and not say she is beautiful with her petite frame, built like a dancer, with a short bob cut that molded her heart shaped face perfectly. She could have any man that her heart desired, but as long as it ain’t me. I nodded my head, and turned it away, looking to see if a cab is headed up the street. “Ok Marcus. I dealt with many stubborn men in my day, and this is nothing new. I keep it professional with all my clients, so if my brother words had anything to destroy your self esteem because you have a woman for your manager, then let it be, but I‘m not going to let my best client down. Do you hear me?” she questioned once more. My head nod in agreement once more, thinking if I let him influence my thinking then I would ruin a perfect opportunity to gain riches to support my family. But what family will I have if she is falling into another dudes arms? Evette… My nap had been disturbed by the ring of the phone. My eyes still filled with heavy sleep slowly opened peering at the name on my I.D. Thomas showed, so I answered. “Hello.” my groggy voice answered making known the sleep in my voice. “Did I wake you?” he asked. “Umm…just was taking a slight nap. What‘s up?” I asked. “I was thinking. How about you get dressed so we could kick it. Just chill being that school is out and all.” he said. “That sounds like f…” I began to say, but thought about Kia. “Shoot…I really can‘t go anywhere, I don‘t have anyone to watch Kia. Ashley and Cory went into town and all…” I continued. “That‘s no problem. How about I bring the fun to your place then. We could just chill and what not. I bring a few movies and we could order pizza or something.” he suggested. “That would be no problem. Besides, they were going to be out for a while, sounds like fun.” I said. “Okay. See you in a few.” he said. “Bye…” I replied as we got off the phone together. Excitement shot through my veins, causing my sleepiness disappear into energy. Kia continued sleeping sound next to me, so I slowly crept up and replaced myself with a few pillows, leaving her there. A big stretch cracked all of the small bones that were cramped up. Creeping the door open, silence filled the whole place. I walked in the living room, noticing the darkness filled in the room. Checking the windows, I noticed the dark gray clouds hovering over the sun. This is a sign of rain. Heading to the bathroom to take a shower, I ran the water for my shower. After stripping out of my clothing to get in, the warm to near hot water hit my skin, breaking through the barrier of my body feeling relax. I don’t know why unknown thoughts kept rushing through my mind, bringing up a lot of old things that I’ve went through in my life. The woman, professing to be my mother ruined much of the childhood I truly never enjoyed. A woman who is vile and ruthless to others and herself. A woman I dare not see anymore. The way she treated me. The way she talked to me. Why these thoughts are playing in my head, who knows, but I know for one thing I will never treat my daughter as the way she did me. Dripping wet, I grabbed the towel drying myself off. The towel hugged around my body snuggly as I walked out of the room, tiptoeing to my bedroom to get dressed. Kia moved as I walked around in the room, letting me know she was slowly getting up. The towel dropped to the floor as I grabbed my lotion to put on my naked body. Afterwards, I grabbed my bra and panties to put on before finding something to wear. My phone began to ring, so I checked the number to see it was my dad calling, I guess to check on me as usual. “Hey daddy.” I said. “Hey baby. How are you doing?” he asked. “I‘m fine and you?” I asked. “Good. You know just calling to see how you was doing today.” he said. “Believe me. I know.” I replies. “Well I was just calling to hear your voice…I‘ll call you later after I get off of work. Love you baby.” he said. “Love you too daddy.” I replied… Then we hung up…Now I can get back to business before Thomas come over. This message has been edited.
