hey guys. i just felt i needed to write a quick note to you. first, just so you know, no one ever writes or will write my posts for me. if i'm on here, i'm on here. also, i'd like to have a chance to answer everyone who had some problems with my feelings on our "president". for the most part, you are right. i try hard to be diplomatic in any situation, and i realize that some of my fans are republicans and i respect that. that said, in my mind there is no half-way point in your conviction. i believe that our president abused his authority. if you check your history books, you'll see that iraq has never attacked us. (i think we may have lost more american lives to canadians than iraqis.) you don't have to go any farther than border's books to pick up a best selling copy of the 9-11 commision's report that says there were no weapons of mass destruction in iraq and no visible link between saddam and osama. this is a mistake that has led to thousands of deaths. (american soldiers as well as innocent iraqi women and children) the first trick of the right is to make you feel like if you speak out against your president in a time of war, you are a traitor. the next trick is to keep reminding us that "saddam is a bad man and the world is much safer now that he's in prison", as opposed to taking responsibility for their actions. don't believe the hype. a vote against your president is not a vote for saddam. it is not a vote against your troops. it's a vote for your troops. SAVE OUR TROOPS/IMPEACH BUSH. i'm sorry if i offended someone, no....wait...no i'm not. i'm sorry that you're not better informed.
truth to power,
r.t.

listen dude i don't hate becuz liberal nor do i think you are a traitor i just think you are sadly mistaken. you say that there is link between saddam and osama i challenge you on that now letz play a lil called Guess That Quote now here it is: "Saddam Hussein, who has a long recordof suppoting terrorism, is tryingto rebuild his intelligence network overseas--assets that would allow him to establish a terrorism network. U.S. sources say he is reaching out to Islamic terrorists, including some who may be linked to Osama bin Laden, the wealthy Saudi exile accused of masterminding the bombning of two U.S. embassies in Africa last summer." hmmm could it be right-wing international nah it was Newsweek Jan 11, 1999 issue headed "Saddam + Bin Laden?" i mean c'mon if you are so well informed as you say you are then you would know al-zarqawi you know the whose cuttin heads off overthere in iraq didn't just magically appear, in early 2002 a missle attack in afghanistan severly injured and taken to a saddam regime hospital run by uday hussein where he had his leg amputated. now c'mon mr. thomas don't give me that there are no ties between saddam & osama i would like to refer to a website i do this becuz i care you're to smart to be led astray like that.weeklystandard.com is the and look for Stephen F. Hayes's column titled The Connection. now i dare you i double dog dare you no triple dog dare you to look in to it,you can't back out of a triple dog dare now can you unless you are a pussy and i know you're not. i still like you even though i'm disappointed that the left has blinded you. i'll remember you prayers and keep listening to your music i can't wait til you guys get back together so you y'all get back to making beautiful music once more i think i think i'm goin to buy your know album when it comes out. even though i vehemently disagree with you i got to admit you make good music. read my lips i don't i repeat i don't hate liberals i disagree not hate. and may refer you to a great album by a band named third day that album's cool. God bless take care and keep rockin on.

I couldn't agree with you more Rob! Especially with you last sentence! People need to be more informed. This country is(if we were to put a lable on it)..uninformed ignorance. Don't mean to be harsh, but it's true. *bows* I thank you for your honesty and opinions! They make a difference!

You speaking out against Bush during the Iraq war is no different than when I spoke out against Clinton during the Bosnian war. You are no more and no less of a traitor than I. Please don't prejudge all republicans as right wing fanatics. Some of us are very down to earth & open minded moderates. XoXo

The thing that seems to bother me about the extreme right is that they seem so intent on making this Nation and our Constitution things of exclusion. That is not what our forefathers intended. As a Christian, I find condeming someone or something very hipocritical, as that is not what Jesus taught. The Constitution is a document of inclusion written to protect the minority, NOT the majority, as the majority needs no protection. I find it insulting that many, not all, right-wingers forget that this is a free Country, and EVERY citizen has the same rights as they have. I just feel that I have NO right to impose my opinions upon any one else, as long as it's not against the law or hurts anyone. All sane adults have, not should have, all the rights afforded to law abiding citizens. Every American does not believe in God, and therefore religious beliefs have no place in our public life, these are private matters. Getting off the soap box now and thanks for listening as this is just my personal opinion and not meant to hurt any feelings. Beth

Well, this posting has obviously been out here for a while now and I have just read it, so I have to respond.... First, Rob... I absolutely admire your talent as a songwriter, musician and vocalist - you are simply amazing and have touched mine and many other's lives in so many ways in times of such need, and I thank you so deeply for that gift.

Although I don't agree with your political views, I don't know you personally (obviously) but LOVE the fact that you to have that right to speak in opposition to your serving president thanks to the many men (and now women) have died for that right.

I, for one, support our country, our current president and any action we have to take to protect our citizens and a free future for children. God willing, terrorism will die someday and we will all be able to focus on building a better, unified world, together as human beings. See, some of us out here are considered "right wing" or "republicans", but in reality we are balanced human beings who support a variety of beliefs - some classified as "democratic" and others "republican"... All I know, is I am fortunate as a woman to have been born in this country, free to write to you in the manner I am and free to express my individual opinion, I am truly blessed Smiler (I know, I know....way too deep, but just felt strong and had to express myself) - love you Rt!

I just had to comment: Rob is sooo right. We had no business attacking Iraq, we were already in one war and Iraq had nothing to do with 911. It is offensive for the President to say that it did. I am also offended by the powers in Washington insinuating that Democrats aren't Christians. Well, I believe in the separation of Church and Hate! Jesus taught us to take care of the poor, to not judge each other, and to forgive. I am not asking anyone to forgive terrorists. What I am saying is that this culture of suppression and bigotry that seems to surround the current republican administration has nothing to do with God and all to do with greed.

The same could be said for Bosnia, Somalia, Hattie and Grenada - all under President Clinton. In fact, we entered over 25 military combat missions during his administration, all with countries that “didn’t attack us directly”. The point is no President can "throw" us into a war. It takes congress, made of all political parties. All of whom voted in high majorities to enter and fund this particular war. It is unfair to just point the finger at President Bush when Congress is as equally responsible and don't say that they HAVE to continue funding it or our soldiers will die. If they don't fund it the troops come home. It's that simple. We couldn't leave them out their with empty guns and no vehicles. Do you know the political heat both parties would have and the world wide embarrassment that would cause? We would have no choice but to withdraw.

As a republican I am not in favor of this war on Iraq. However, I hold Senator Hillary, for example, equally responsible as I do President Bush. That's what amazes me about some democrats is that they don't want to hold anyone in their party accountable for this war. They think Bush just signed a check and sent thousands off to war alone. As if he armed them himself and flew the planes that took them there.

But I understand. It's okay to hold Marlboro accountable for lung cancer and not the individual who smoked 3 packs a day for 40 years. That's the mentality. Blame the big wig but don't hold the senators equally responsible for voting in favor of not only the war but the constant and increase in funding and now the expansion of the war. You do realize it doesn’t end with Iraq? Senators of both political parties are now in favor of increasing the number of troops back in Afganistan and they have begun to do that already. And let’s not forget that both Pallosi and Frist agree that Syria and Iran need to be stopped next. The wars won’t end as long as you keep funding and voting in the people that make them possible – ALL the people that make them possible.

If you are against this war and voted in the last election for anyone who supported it then you are as equally responsible. There is a whole new generation of politicians out there chomping at the bit to make this country better but we all settle with the names we know - Kennedy, Bush, Clinton and on and on. They are in office because of us so now we must deal with the decisions we ALLOWED them to make.

(((If you are against this war and voted in the last election for anyone who supported it then you are as equally responsible.)))

Sorry, can't blame me. I voted for Howard Dean in the primaries and wrote him in at the election vote.
I do understand what you are saying about both parties supporting the war, but I personally feel we as a nation had no business attacking Iraq when we did. I didn't like a lot of the things Clinton did either, things like enhancing the drug war, which is a racially motivated attack on persons of color. But really, it's time to stop blaming Clinton for what's happening now. It's Bush's ballgame and he has made most of the world hate America and 1/2 the populus hate him.
