uh, doesn't his music count for something? a name is just that - a name! it's really not that big of a deal. i'm sure that most people here would still listen to him if he had just about any other name.

Personally, I think Lupe Fiasco is a dope ass name. I consider it pretty creative to come out with a stage first and last name. I don't think anyone thinks that it's his real name, and understand it's just a stage name...

But if you're wondering (or even if you're not), the name came from WasaLU, people calling him Lu, which became Lupe. "Fiasco" was inspired by the track 'Firm Fiasco' by Nas.

But at the end of the day, there's really no need to be hating on a name so damn hard...

Not hating at all, just smiling. I have way more respect for people that don't masquerade. Geoffrey Oryema would be an example, no stage name, just pure talent. That's where it's at.
