I feel you man. I hear that question so many times and it always ends with Lil Wayne. In my opinion, any rapper that does not have to change his style, flow and persona to make the media love him, is the greatest Rapper alive. Stack that cheeze man.

After reading your blog i feel that the media in hip hop does create controversy and tension in the culture just for publicity. i feel like it is sick and they should be ashamed of them selves for even using us to do something like that and i WILL NOT participate in it either. they inform us about how bad we are doing only to feed us garbage to make it worser. I know lil wayne won that award but why? why is he rewarded for feeding us bullshit....if only people could understand that all the shit he raps about he doesnt live by. he anit shootin niggas....he anit sellin drugs...if anything he takin them...he anit no gang banger...he's FAKE....we giving him all this money only for him to give back bullshit music....like all of things so called hip hop artists...i think all tha beefs are publicity stunts....they dont understand that lil kids is watchin and listening to them and they are influenced by what they say...kids hearin....bitch this bitch that...sell products.....stay strapped it is poison and they are takin in all they can....they are no different from osoma....or hitler.....they all have the same purpose and that is to to hurt people whether it is purposely or not. you are right when you say it is us vs. us and it hurts to hear that. lupe hang in their and continue to fight although we dont know each other we are fighting for tha same purpose...your music is the general and i am its soldier....screamin out FNF til tha world blow up!!!!!

Controversy sells almost as much as sex does.

There really isn't a way of deciding who the best rapper is without bias. It also can be said about lists that are made too. I find that Lupe is always...ALWAYS... lower than he should be. I value having a message over a hot beat any day, but I guess that many people don't.

But please keep being true to yourself, Lupe. I like you the way you are. =D

Yo Lu waddup this is Strickly Bizness aka Estudabee. I know you don't know me, but I admire you. Especially since we both on the same side. They get us, by makin us get each other. The weapons gotta be used against them. Me, I choose to fight fire with fire. I'm an up and comin artist. And honestly, we can't win yet. I honestly feel my presence is neccessary in the game, maybe the game don't know it yet, but I am the catalyst of the revolution.

Let's keep it on da low though. Imma pop out da game like a fuckin Xenomorph. So all I say is to expect me. I'm even willin to become the cool. Cuz, the only thing brighter then the sun is another star, right?

Anyways if you ever read this, please don't hesistate to hit me up. I would love to communicate with you. Aight ~1~

I agree Mr. Fiasco. Although this is rather late....stuff like that VIBE article slightly echo the remnants of things like the Willie Lynch letter, which create continuous division for no reason other than to hold us back Frowner However! I must admit that I'm glad many other people don't feed into nonsense like those "contests".

Either way, I am a huge fan to say the least Lupe, and doomo arigato gozaimasuyo for doin your thang. You play nonstop on my zune, and as a female of color it's beyond refreshing to hear the true talent, passion, and respect in your flow. anata no ongaku ga daisuki desu yo!!!

Also, I noticed you were comin to the new brunswick area soon. Although I'm from Delaware, I am a sophomore here at Rutgers and my 19th b-day is Oct 16. Needless to say, thank you for giving me the best birthday ever Big Grin oh, and hopefully I'll be able to study abroad to Nihon next spring, so lemme know if you'll be there!

From another "American mentally with Japanese tendencies",

Much Luv,

Rebecca C.

it has been "Us vs. Us" for a very long time...it's like a riding a skateboard..."they" kicked and pushed hard enough to be able to hop off and let "us" coast...unless we create some friction we're just gonna keep coasting as a skateboard would in a vacuum.

ok lupe this is the way i feel about this i feel if u wasn't having conflicts with Vibe then you would not want your fans to stop supporting them and you know that if they named you #1 for Best Rapper Alive you would tell everybody to support & look at that magazine b/c they named you #1

As a an artist yourself , you should know that if it ain't making dollars than it don't make sense. Even if you are coming from a different point of view. When someone is crowned the best rapper they are simply saying who made the most money for that year- Not who was actually saying something with their lyrics. I think think people started selling there souls for riches instead of using the power of rapping for something better. At least we still got you! Who would be the coolest nigga but lupe fiasco Cool- NexusPlexus23

The fact that Vibe out of all magazines would propose such a contest is sad...there are so many different aspects of rap that there is not just one KING...got the rappers that rap about life and the stuggles and other that just focus on hoes and cars..the rapper that shines is skilled and able to invoke feelings in everyfan and person..a nod is always put into motion when that rappers song is heard..and I have never failed to nod to any of Lupe

Thats no prob. I would just like to let you know that the media creating ill will between rappers and other public figures has been a long practice that has enabled them to continue to sell newspapers, magazines, and other milieus of media. They arent going to stop anytime soon. More importantly, its imperative that rappers stand in the forefront and realize the ploy of the media and refuse to be involved and beyond that to refuse to be affected and to learn to approach each other as adults not as children who build their enemies by the influence of those around them. This is an important message that it seems that we have failed to comprehend. We continually feed off of "beefs" that are present in the entertainment industry not realizing that it has become something that is no longer about who is the better rapper or who is the better lyricist, but who has the most street credit or who is the "hardest" (whatever that means). There was a time, Nas and HOV, when rap beefs produced some of the best music that we had ever heard, because it was during this time that rappers really became MCs. They showed their lyricism, but it isnt like that anymore. Hip Hop has truly lost its way, and its going to take MCs like you, Kanye, N.E.R.D., Common, Talib, and Mos Def to help it find its way back.

P.S. I go to Vanderbilt University and I was at the concert in Nashville and you truly are an MC, and you inspire others around to search for what Hip Hop was and can become again: a message of change and a platform for lyricism and poetry. THANK YOU!!!!

It is a trap that blocks our minds. If we believe and adore their disassembling nature, the tampered obstacles will lead us to self destruction. It's beneficial to their plan for us to be against one another. When we cooperate it puts us further out of touch with the truth. We need trained specialist in all fields. Keep shaking the airwaves up Lupe. You inspire me to do the right thing with this music instead of falling in line.

Peace Big Grin Still I smile

wow this is extremely inspiring. I completely agree with you. the "Us vs. Them" idea is seen not only in this case but also within gender, age, sexuality, race, etc. It's shocking to me how much influence the media and other powers have on everyday people. We are hardly able to think for ourselves anymore. I have so much respect for you taking action against it. Keep doing what you're doing. And check out my slideshow from your Halloween concert in Chicago. I was front row. It was absolutely amazing!!!!! Hands down best concert I've ever experienced. The atmosphere and energy was insane. Indescribable.
