Much respect Lupe,

I just want to say I'm so glad someone in the game can recognize when the media is trying to make problems. As Jay Z said before you are truly a breath of fresh air my brotha keep being you it's good to see someone keeping hip hop alive.

To everyone who supports Lupe much love to you because this brotha is real and now days in the game it's so many clowns out there just trying to make money and destroying the art of Hip Hop.

Peace brothers and sisters.

Bobby from da Bronx

Lupe,
I'm a single mother of two ages 22 and 33. I really loved "Kick,Push" I would sit with my children just my mother did me and listen to all types of music. But, when I heard "Kick,Push" I loved it right off and didn't really listen to the rest of the CD. But, when "The Cool" came out I took a closer listen to you via my "Fiance'"and my children who thinks your the best. I found that they were so right !!!!!You were truly DIFFERENT from all the rest.Which meant I went out and brought both of your CD's. YOU are what "Hip Hop" NEEDS !!!! and if there is ever a voice this generation needs to hear it's YOURS. I've even turned some of my friends on to you. Your video "Paris,Tokyo" I LOVE. The song is sweet, everything about is just soooooo !!! And, by reading the credits in your CD, I see you had my man Eumir Deodato with you. PLEASE !! don't let your next CD be your last. You are so Deeeep to be so young and I like that. On August 9 2008, I had the pleasure to see you and photograph you here in Baltimore at the 2008 Virgin Festival. I am a freelance photographer. I would love for you to see the photos. The photos are great just like your performance. Though I had to work the event YOU were the reason I asked to work it. Keep doin' what your doin'. The other rappers can't compare to you lyrically, they just can't.Some of them have good beats but, the lyrics well, you know. They chose to "Dumb It Down". The other day when I signed up to be on your your website I ran across the letter you posted about Vibe Magazine(Best Rapper Alive) that really did it for me. YOU ARE DEEP,I LOVE THE LETTER. I'm a proud 48 year old fan of YOURS !!!! If there is a way for me to let you see the photos I shot let me know. If you ever need a photographer to do your shots when your in the area. I'd be glad to. I know you'll be in D.C. this week wish I could be there. I LOVE what Coca-Cola is doing with you. That just shows they make more than good soda you are proof of that !!!! LOVE YA, LUPE

(He said I write what I see) enough said. I like everything about the man and I don't see why people are trying to get famous by causing controversy. That’s just not what we need in general I live near Denver and our music scene is off the chain right now, the national democratic convention is going on and I just started school. You can feel the tension in the air it may or may not be a good time for a HIP HOP show. I know it's a lot more complicated than that but consider it. People need to express themselves at times like this to relieve all the pointless tension, this country needs a change just not everyone realizes that. If anyone replies to this do it in a civilized manner.

To whom it may concern,

I'm writing this with the slimmest of hope that Lupe Fiasco himself might get a chance to hear what I have to say about the show I just saw at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.

The show was very good and the energy was high the entire time, but the end was lack luster with no encore. I was ashamed that concert goers started leaving even before the last song was done. In North Carolina where I'm from, we always ask for an encore, especially from an artist we appreciate and paid good money to see. Asking for an encore is a way the audience can compliment an artist. IU just seemed not to care for an encore and I thought it was an affront to Lupe Fiasco and the great show it just gave all of us.

I was high in the balcony and stayed yelling for an encore even while most people had departed. I made my way to the stage eventually, only because I was curious if Lupe would have come back out if his fans would have put any effort into asking for one. Bishop G came my way and I asked him, "were you guys going to do an encore," and his response was, "No Nigguh, are you crazy, we just did an hour and a half show." His response really surprised me, I thought the band would have felt like I did, that IU was kind of turning their backs on Lupe, sending him on his way because IU had had enough of his music for one night and didn't need another song, let alone want one!

I understand the physical exhaustion the band and lupe fiasco must have endured, but to tell me, "No nigguh, are you crazy."! Many other great artists such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers will do more than one encore even after playing over 2 hour sets, but I'm supposed to be okay with paying good money to get no encore and to be asked if I'm crazy? I believe it is Lupe Fiasco who is crazy for having a hype man such as Bishop G who treats his fans like trash. I had planned on buying a t-shirt or two, but the experience with Bishop G just left a bad taste in my mouth.

I left the concert disappointed and hoping that Lupe Fiasco is nothing like Bishop G, hoping that he does remember the "little people" that made him a "Super Star" and would have come back out for an encore, even if he was tired; that is the kind of artist I would pay money to see again, but that is not the one I got at the end of the show.

Thank You for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Francisco Avalos

I wanna take the preconceived
Out from underneath your feet
We could shake it off
And instead we'll plant some seeds
We'll watch them as they grow
And with each new beat
From your heart the roots grow deeper
The branches, well they reach for what?

Hey Guys...Much Love to ya'll...I'm taking this time out to inform you beautiful guy's and gal's about a few things that seem out of order and rather odd to me...I pose the question...

Does the media in hip-hop conspire to create controversy and tension in the culture just for the sake of publicity?

Vibe.com recently started a campaign with the intention of crowning one lucky artist from the vast talent pool of hip-hop as "Best Rapper Alive" (FYI the notion of someone being the "best" of something especially in a category as subjective as music is a rather impossible idea to bring to fruition with any credibility. Its based on bias and political maneuvering when in the public realm. I mean in private you simply like what you like as it fits to how you live your life and how you feel at a particular point.) I do find these rather unfounded events entertaining and even in some instances rather valid when a large amount of research and an unbiased, objective approach is taken using damn near scientific methods to make a list of criteria that tests artists in various formats and divisions to really reach a conclusion that is "This Person Is Based On This List Criteria Is The Best Of Something..." But when these spectacles are done just for the sake of manifesting publicity and controversy at the expense of someone's physical safety and overall state of mind I find them rather disgusting and an abomination of the lowest caliber.

I thought at one point that is was "Us vs. Them" however much a misconception or an overwhelmingly idiotic notion when you take into accounts the odds that are against "Us". "They" have superior weaponry, superior discipline, vast amounts of resources and lack morals and ethics to the highest degree. The fight against them in a rational mind seems rather futile but in a mind taught to believe that the "pen is mightier than the sword" and the weapons of the weak can overcome the mighty weapons oppressive when in the hands of the righteously motivated few. And that you had allies in your elders and in the trusted institutions that were set up to safeguard the truth and use it to empower the individuals who were under their charge. Our source of unbiased, uncontaminated truth that was our beacon to the North guiding us in the darkness to freedom and enlightenment. Faith is ignorance and faith is tested when you become informed and that is what makes you strong. All you have to do to make people weak and keep them weak is to let them have faith, let them be tested by becoming informed and let them even feel that they are becoming stronger but make sure the information they are tested with is tainted and poison. And to make sure they keep taking the weakening poison make it so that they give it to themselves. I ain't a saint. Never claimed to be. But I did believe in ideals and I believed in "Us". And I fought for "Us". I continue to wage war against "Them". Sacrificing wealth and fame for the sake of the state of mind of "Us". I started to realize in the course of my career that "Us vs. Them" is now "Us vs. Us". Our institutions of information are just interested in creating spin, feeding controversy and pumping out useless information in between vibrant ads for things we don't even need from companies without souls.

Why would you create a forum under the guise of "friendly competition" in which you pit individuals whom have at present or have had in the past friction in the real world in direct competition with each other in a virtual setting that you know will re-ignite feelings of ill will amongst the constituents of these people and quite possibly the individuals themselves???

This is insidious and reckless action. And I will not be apart of it.

So I humbly ask all of my fans and friends to boycott any voting and refrain from any participation whatsoever on my behalf in the Vibe Magazine and Vibe.com "Best Rapper Alive" Tournament.

The love and continued support of my musical career and my endeavors outside of music that you guys give are immensely satisfying accolades in themselves. The shine of any trophy on my mantel pales in comparison to the light that I see in the smiling faces of my fans...

Peace & Much Love To Ya!!!

Lupe...Z q

SHOCKY!!:
honestly i would have to respectfuly disagree with this because i think that some times compitition is a good thing. unfortunatly people don't really understand the meaning behind the word "friendly" and thats when competing becomes a bad thing. when it stirs up hate or spite! if people could really just "live and let live" it would be great. but like many other things it sound like a good concept but it doesn't really work!

SHARDAE aka SHOCKY!

OBAMA and MCCAIN HAVE THE SAME AGENDA. A POWERFUL GROUP HAS BEEN CONTROLLING EVENTS LIKE THIS FOR YEARS, TO GIVE THE ILLUSION OF CHOICE TO ITS "FREE" PEOPLE. WAKE UP! LUPE KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT, BUT HE ISN'T GONNA COME ALL THE WAY OUT WITH IT BECAUSE HE WOULD NOT ONLY BE JEOPARDIZING HIS CAREER, BUT MAYBE HIS LIFE. IT IS EMBEDDED IN 'PUT YOU ON THE GAME' TO SOME EXTENT.
