...yeah.

I didnt know bout this Vibe shit and wouldnt vote anyways.

Alotta the kids on this board make lists of "best rappers" and claim anyone in unalignment with their oppinion on their fav rapper should "kill themselves"... lol... and yet... NOW i see everybody sayin "maaan fuck this shit... its all subjective... you cant compare..."... I dont wonder why lmao.

It seems to me, Lu, that your takin it more gravely than it is but i dunno... maybe you personally saw someone get hurt from this "best rapper alive" shit. But i think its fine for them to have debates and have "friendly competition" since their mean is money. And I dont really feel like they can be at 100 blame for some rappers lil beef in real life causin in someone gettin hurt. Thats mostly the rappers fault. Their grown men, you cant treat em like kids by tryin to keep em seperated and havin the "parents" (in this case vibe) be fully responsible.

I can agree that these debates and competitions may result in idiotic violence. But debates and competitions can IDEALLY be held without resortin to "fuck u/kill yoself" or violence (or shit even yellin... ive done it before Eeker). Its mainly stupid peoples fault (i.e. certain stupid rappers/fans). Now sayin the media is well aware of the beef this shit might fuel then they are partly to blame as instigators. But again... its not entirely their fault.

Lmao.

I just went to the Vibe site where they are doing the poll...and they have some of the dumbest rappers on there I have ever seen in my life lmao.

And some pretty stupid match ups as well.

Anyways... so much for hoping they'd have semi-interesting picks and match ups.

Time for intelligent hype to appear

*T.Hype.P goes back into mirror*

ahem,

my opinion on the subject is that you can be the best at something such as basketball, but there probably is no "best rapper alive etc." there may have been one around at the time of furious five vs. the sugar hill gang but today hip hop has developed more than five elements in my opinion and there are toomany types of styles too many types of fans and too many types of subjects to even classify one as the best. There can be a place such as this forum where most people can agree on one rapper they all like, but try a hip hop in general forum and there will always be that one person in the back saying "_____" is better than "_____". When you ask them to explain their reasoning they will usually tell you why they think this, maybe give you a song or two by them. But there is a chance that you may not agree with them that this person is the "best". They could have a much different style than you and they could have a much different taste than you, one person could relate to common because they came up on the southside of chicago and one person could relate to rick ross more because they deal weight. One person could be a fan of straight lyrical talent and one person could just want to dance. THis is why I never call anyones list of "best" rappers stupid because they have different tastes than me. So vibe's list works in some aspects because thousands across the world get to express their opinion but it won't work because there will always be one person who's opinion differs and I respect that.

Yall didn't know I could do that did you?

once again, another pair of shut eyes are opened...thanks 4 that.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

And a woman spoke, saying, "Tell us of Pain." And he said: Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding. Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain. And could you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life, your pain would not seem less wondrous than your joy; And you would accept the seasons of your heart, even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your fields. And you would watch with serenity through the winters of your grief. Much of your pain is self-chosen. It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self. Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquillity: For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by the tender hand of the Unseen, And the cup he brings, though it burn your lips, has been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has moistened with His own sacred tears...

As much as I respect Lupe, and as much as I appreciate the fluidity of his argument, I just can't agree with the idea that poll that was created by the media to find the "best rapper alive," is "poison." After all, the job of the media is to appeal to public. If the media should allow people to voice their opinions. It gives some of the power back to the individual.

Idk, just my .02

this is why i get so mad when people say that someone is the best rapper alive (lil wayne) *coughs*. when people ask me that i say that my personal favorite is lupe fiasco but there is no best rapper alive, thats impossible. with the millions of people that rap that are alive (most of them you never herd of) you will never find who is the best. plus with such a complex thing called music the title, "the best" is based on purely opinion. so put simple........... DONT PARTICIPATE IN VIBES POLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe the media does this in everything, the more publicity, the more money. Also, best rapper alive is a very light opinion because the styles are just too different and people like the music they prefer or hate the music for a different reason be it the beats, the lyrics or the vocals(and so on). But for me I find it hard to do the daily things in life without being able to listen to some of your or Nas' more meaningful and deep songs so it is obvious who I would think were the best rappers alive Wink. Two of my favorites by you are Twilight Zone and Little Weapon. FYI you should do more free styles too because Dead Presidents was really good Smiler.

Edit:I have been running on no sleep so if it is any bit confusing that's my excuse Big Grin

I actually received that issue in the mail last week I believe. You don't have to worry about me filling that out anyway because I don't participate in any magazine contests in the first place. I find it pointless.

This picture is blurry but i really love the way it looks. You could just see how live the show was just from this pic.

A vote to place some artist above others is not of my interest becuase either way the rapper with more "chicks","whips","Alcohol","Weed" and $$ will probably win. It is a game i never would want to participate in and i am glad that you are spreading your intelligance upon the real"Us" Lupe. Especially in times and days like these. It is the flow of life and with the world being this crazy and disgraceful. W-O-R-L-D END, now we are all beneath dirt is it worth anything?

Damn, vibe is pretty wack.

I don't think there's such thing as a "Best" In most types of things, it's built mainly on preferences. Just because someone is going to be crowned the best rapper alive, other supporters of the other rappers will disagree and tension will be built.

Damn.
