So it's been a cool minute (or year?) since I've posted here. This board got way crazy around The Cool so I kinda stayed away.. But things look like they calmed down a bit, so I'm back! Or at least until Lasers catches on and this place blows up again.

Anyways, i just bought/downloaded "Shining Down" from iTunes and I think it's pretty dope. Despite the autotune part being criticized by Lu himself in the next verse, I think it sounds pretty sick, for better or for worse.

And since this is Lu we're talking about, I'm gonna go ahead and post my favorite line: "Lu don't move no cow words (cowards), you only heard lions (lines)" I'm not even sure I 100% understand it (yet!), but i like it.

What does everybody think?!

i really like the song. my favorite lines are the last 2 bars of the song.

nothin complex, just sounds sweet. i was a little bit disappointed in his second verse cuz his flow was a little erratic and i thought the swearing was a little out of place. but still a great song.

and i'm with you for sure. hope these boards come back. this was a great place to discuss not only his lyrics and topics, but most other good artists.


oh yeah, i forgot to mention in regards to the song: Matthew Santos proves once again he can sing like crazy!

my two favorite lines from the song, and i agree with Chris, Santos has got some sick vocal chords that give soo much more to the song.

what do you think he was better on: Fighters, Superstar, or this song?

personally, i would pick Fighters. the a capella part at the end stands out. all 3 really show off this guy's talent though

ya Fighters is a classic, one of my friends heard me playin that song and she instantly loved it, and even asked if i could make a ring tone for her of the chorus... i LOVE how Lupe is amazing at putting substance in everything he does, and when we gets singers like that to go on the hook it just adds more affect to me... but honestly its a toss up right now for me between Fighters and Shining Down as far as Michael Santos is concerned....But overall, i think i like Fighters more than Shining Down...

to me right now, my favorite santos hook is either this one (shining down) or american terrorist.

but i admit that lu's verses hasn't 100% grown on me yet for shining down. the flow is a bit different that what we're used to. not sure how to explain it, but it definitely is different, and just a bit weird to me. that being said, it's still a dope track and i can't WAIT 'til lasers drops..

Not a story like Kick, Push, Or as complex as dumb it down, but this song has a hot beat and matthews voice is sick. I really hope this single does well guys.
