I love Nightwish.
She is such a STAR.
European Metal with soaring Female vocals has been popular in Europe for years. Big huge
3 day outdoor festivals for 100,000 people. This style of music is just now being brought to the mainstream's attention in this country.
I hope the huge festival thing catches on over here.

I noticed Lacuna Coil mentioned more than once. I have an interview with them this Saturday (April 22). Perhaps I shall ask if they've heard Halestorm. Maybe I'll take my copy on "One and Done" and let them listen to it.

Just in case anyone wondered, Cristina Scabbia (vocalist from Lacuna COil) is very flattered to know that she is an influence on someone else.

Aw, that sucks! Definitely catch them if you can!

Anyone here like Hurt? Their first single "Rapture" has been on radio for a couple of months and they were on the Jagermeister Tour. Their debut album is out and it's worth getting. J. Loren (the singer) has this amazing voice! Check them out.

Hurt is wonderful. I saw them at Livestock in Tampa, FL and got to talk to the guys for awhile. They were very cool, very good music, definitely worth a listen.

For anyone looking for more stuff to check out, if you haven't heard of The Dresden Dolls, you ought to hear of them now. I'm catching them in NY the next two nights and am insanely excited about it. Black Stone Cherry is another one I'm really into lately. They're hard Southern rock with a classic edge...something like that...but they're another one worth investigating.

I'm sure I'll think of more soon.

yeah, i have a very wide variety of my musical likings.

Love the list Jenni. I ommited the ones I didn't like, no offense, and there are still all of these! Anyone who would accuse you of penning this list to merely appear "trendy" is an idiot, so consider the source if such arises. They are GREAT bands. Classic rock is certainly where HALESTORM comes from, mixed with a bit of blues and metal...also stemming from said genre, just not in that order.

One thing tho, you can't mention liking Cold Play and not mention Radiohead! :-) To add to the great list you compiled, and to maybe even recommend if not known to some...

Guns and Roses
Tom Waits
Old Springsteen(Pre 1984)
Jeff Buckley
Deep Purple/ Rainbow
Brian Wilson(Pet Sounds, and unreleased 66-67 Smile sessions)
Neil Young (Pre this year)
Nirvana
PJ Harvey
Patti Smith (Not Smythe)
The Ramones
The Pogues (If feeling a bit Irish)
Fleetwood Mac
Jethro Tull
Goerge Gershwin
Bethoven

As for newer bands, and Im not saying this to be trendy...(haha)

New Pornographers ("Bleeding Heart Show" is my song of the year for 2005)
Radiohead
Coldplay ("Fix You" their top IMO)
Sia
Beck
And whoever Atlantic throws HALESTORM on the road with until they build enough to headline!

Not much on the radio excites me nowadays, It's reminding me of the late 80's when Nirvana had to come along and shake things up. Clear Channel owns everything played on radio, and it's not helping newer, and unfortunately underground, bands see the light of day. The young hip crowds like yourselves find them, getting them on the air is a whole different story. Fear not though, it'll shake into something good (Go Halestorm)then we'll have 200 bands on the air that sound just like that!

Peace, Uncle

Cool, you went to Livestock! I didn't get to go because I went to see Shinedown in Estero, FL that Friday, Nonpoint in Ft. Lauderdale on Saturday, and EDBD in Orlando that Sunday. I really did want to go to Livestock though! I'm kicking myself now because Halestorm was there as well as Hurt! lol BTW, Hurt's album is just amazing! Smiler
