Obviously DCFC experienced a huge bump in sales for Plans when the signed to a major and were mentioned on that show no one here likes to talk about.

its been 3 years since plans, and that certain show has been off the air for awhile, will Narrow Stairs debut at #1? Will this album sell more than Plans? Or has their exposure sort of petered out since the cancelling of certain shows and such?

It seems like an either or. Either this album will be huge and sell a ridiculous amount, or it will be another "indie" seller, loved by the pitchfork/stereogum crowd, but not listened to by mainstream america

A lot of people around here have heard the radio edit of Possess, on the radio of course.
Narrow Stairs; definitely not number one, but it might get a little big, gain some new fans etc.

I love how it's just mainstream America, because everyone lives there (Y)

i think it's going to be a good step for them... don't think it will debut at no.1 or hit no.1 but it will get up into the top 10 prolly...
seems like all the press is saying that this isn't groundbreaking material but does represent something new for newer fans... i think that they've always brought new things to light on every disc, even Plans, and it's always allowed them to gain a wider audience

It might not sell as much as Plans did overall but I think that it will debut much better than Plans did. The buzz is big and the Plans fangirls are desperate for new material.

Plans went in at #4, so if it goes in higher, but not #1 it has to be #2 or #3?
This is everyone they will be up against that week...

As I'm British I don;t know half of them or their relative popularity.

20th Century Masters: Millenium Edition -- Alien Ant Farm? I think that series has run its due course. Jesus.

Also, it has Doolittle by the Pixies... if there's bonus tunes involved, I am picking that up with Narrow Stairs.

A sophism of madness...

Both Spoon and The Shins debuted on the top 10 with their last albums... mainstream indie - get it while it's hot.

EDIT: I just checked the Billboard release list for that week and it seems like it wont get a lot of competition from new records.

It all depends on what other albums are coming out that week... but assuming it's a fairly normal week, with not too many new albums coming out at the same time, I would bet that it will sell more copies than Plans did in its first week. The anticipation is high, and Plans expanded their audience quite a bit. However, it seems like it would be difficult to sell as many total albums as Plans has, considering the fact that the new album is shaping up to be less polished and less accessible than Plans.

Well, before plans, I didn't know anyone who listened to Death Cab For Cutie. Now I don't know one person at my school who hasn't heard Soul Meets Body or I Will Follow You Into The Dark.

I think it will be big!
