Y'all are crazy. Best album yet.
And all the great bands experiment, and change their sound. Criticism of it not being the Death Cab you're used to seems silly. It's not like they pulled a Sugar Ray or a Silverchair....pulling a 180 on their sound.

I was thinking about how Narrow Stairs songs compared to the older albums, and I realized - these songs don't make me feel anything. The one moment where I feel something is the bridge in Twin Sized Bed. It's things like the epicness of Transatlanticism, lyrics of Brothers On a Hotel Bed, ending of Marching Bands and Line of Best Fit, and the build-up in Styrofoam Plates that really grab me and make me want to listen to these songs. But Narrow Stairs really doesn't have any of those moments for me, it's kind of disappointing.

They're good songs in comparison to other bands that are out there, but when I compare them to other Death Cab songs they just don't work.

Narrow Stars rocks more then the Jonas Brothers, I'll give it that.

Thats not saying much. A monkey humping a coconut rocks more than the Jonas Brothers.

i must admit, Narrow Stairs was pretty good, but it is nowhere close to their best work, but they are a band and bands have to try new stuff. they can't just stick to the same thing forever.

but i think that Something About Airplanes is their best album

I can mention several bands that rock less than a monkey humping a coconut. Because that just plain rocks.

my honest opinion is something that has been bothering me every day since I last saw them. Besides the album not being on par with their last ones, and that ben's new straightforward lyrics don't remotely get under my skin, their live show left a lot to be desired.

I am going to say it but when I saw them in Philly I was completely let down. I knew it from the moment Bixby kicked in that something was very wrong. Their current guitar setup is hugely lacking. For example compare any recent New Year Performance to old ones. Even back when they were using fender guitars and amps. Most of the mix was bass and drums, and the guitars had no punch.

Any huge fan should also know that Ben sometimes struggles singing live, not acoustic, but with a band.

After watching all recent performances I can see the sound has not gotten any better. I am somewhat angry and somewhat upset no one has either told them or Chris has figured out something is wrong.

Their live guitars are currently so clean it is completely wrong. He knows what they used to record with but why aren't they using it live. Above all I didn't feel the connection I felt before live. It seemed like they could of phoned it in.

Also Ben's new slight lil rock star attitude is a little bothersome.

This is coming from a huge, huge, huge, huge fan. I wish this band all the best, and love them. Narrow Stairs is far from horrible, but for Death Cab it seems a little off.

And yeah, I do think he's kind of gotten that "rockstar attitude". I agree with you hithere. Something is different this time around...
