do you guys think the lyric "love is watching someone die" is referring to love (the abstract entity itself) watching someone die....or is this line defining love as IN Love IS/= watching someone die..........

my opinion if I had to guess is that it's the latter (defining love)because of the following lyric.."so, who's gonna watch you die....." what do you think?

the whole idea is that it's so hard to watch someone die that anyone who can pull themself together to watch you die just so you aren't alone is someone who truly loves you

it is also linked with the whole i will follow you into the dark idea. but i wont get into that

i agree with the interpretation that anyone who can pull it together to actually watch you die is someone who must truly love you, because watching someone die isn't an easy thing. that's the way i've always viewed the song, anyways.

I'm pretty sure I heard Ben say on an interview that he really did (sorry can't remember where from) that one couple he was friends with, the girl being Sarah. She actually said "love is watching someone die." And I think his comments were something like that it got him to thinking about love and that you truly love someone when you are old and grey and you are sitting next to them at the hospital watching them die. Basically I think he meant it to be like, you know you are truly in love with someone when you watch them die.

If someone finds what interview that was from, let me know cause I would love to listen to it sometime
