So I went to the Sasquatch! music festival up here in Washington state and saw Death Cab's set, naturally. It was a really good one, though it came off a little bit routine to me, for some reason and the crowd was kind of subdued...

But what struck me most was the between song banter. Ben made a joke where he said that he was wearing all black for two reasons, one because of the Cure playing right after them and two "because I feel black on the inside."

Following that he talked about how Tegan and Sara's mom had a conversation with him that day about why he should like the movie Juno and how he couldn't tell her to her face how wrong he thought her opinion was. But to the crowd he was making fun of her and saying, "I don't like that fucking film. Fuck you, Tegan and Sara's mom!"

I wasn't offended or anything, I just thought the humor and entire presentation was a little uncharacteristic of Gibbard. Is he trying to appear more hard-edged or what?

I was there too - he did NOT say FU to Tegan and Sara's mom. He said after taking with her he still hated the Fin' movie - or words to that effect. The f-word absolutely was NOT directed towards Tegan and Sara mom. Really.

Juno was definitely overrated, but it was still pretty decent, I definitely wouldn't go so far as to say that I fucking hate that film though.

I still didn't even see it... hah! Mostly of how obsessed Nova Scotia was with Ellen Page (since she's from here...) for the time that it was out. Kinda made me sour.
Black on the inside - Could have meant that he was evil on the inside, and making a joke because he's obviously not...? -shrug-

I actually liked Juno. But I don't think it desesrved all the praise that it was getting when it came out.

Also I noticed alot of pregnant teens walking around my town after it came out.
It's pretty strange.

I wish the world was flat like the old days.

no it was obviously a joke and a fucking funny one because ben is like the whitest dude on the planet. he definitely meant african-american black and i think it may have been lost on some people. he said the other reason was because they played right before the cure came out

- The Smiths "Unloveable"

Considering that the song isn't referencing feeling African-American, I would be led to believe he's not talking about that.

Oh jeez...I WAS there. People are side tracked here. He was not saying anything negative TO T&S's Mom. (She's a fabulous lady.) He was saying F to the movie, following a conversation with her, but not admitting to her that he wasn't in compliance with her idea of the movie. It was F to the idea of the movie...not her.
Let this go. I'm sure the girls have...
