'Plans' was named Best Album Of The Year in Stuff Magazine.

Website has a small bit about it on the front page.

They gave it a rating of 10 ('Instant Classic') when they reviewed it.

Shame it's not a music magazine but it's recognition none the less.

Death Cab For Cutie, Plans
Distributor: Atlantic
Release Date: 8/30/2005

The skinny:
While songs from their last album, Transatlanticism, were vying for spots on The OC, Death Cab were busy reinventing themselves as major-label stars. Their new disc, Plans, is the more talented, naturally athletic older brother to the band's scrawnier younger siblings. By combining Gibbard's melancholy vocals with upbeat pop, Death Cab have crafted one of the year's best records. On "Soul Meets Body," Gibbard croons dejectedly but keeps things from getting too down by tossing in a few signature playful "bum bums." (The band gets bonus points for not falling back on the ubiquitous indie-rock handclap.) Party jam "Crooked Teeth" lightens the proceedings with enough pep to get even the most aloof hipster playing air guitar before the album comes to an emotional end with "Stable Song," a heartbreaking tune that'll remind listeners just how far the band has come.

You'll like this album if you like:
Arcade Fire, The Postal Service, The New Pornographers, opting for a bus instead of a cab

Standout tracks:
"Marching Bands of Manhattan," "Someday You Will Be Loved," "What Sarah Said"

Tantalizing tidbit:
Lead singer Ben Gibbard's side project is the super-duper hipster-friendly Postal Service.

that article is almost worse than a pretentious pitchfork review.

That and the fact that they are wrong is disappointing.

wow. this is why i dont like death cab getting so much publicity. that article totally misrepresents them to the people who havnt heard them. this is the reason why half my school thinks death cab is dumb and emo and annoying.

Calling Crooked Teeth a "party jam" pretty much sums up how bullshit that review is.

I like Death Cab as much as any one of you, but Plans most definitely was not the best of the year.

Yeah, I have no respect for them whatsoever. They gave Give Up a 3, and Castaways and Cutouts a 0.
0. What the fuck.

thats why i hate magazine reveiws. its a different writer almost every time so its different oppinions. It doesnt matter what they think. i just read them to hear how they describe them if i want to check someone out. but Stuff isnt even a music magazine. its dumb when they try to cover everything out there. its just about girls. thats what they should keep it like. No one reads for articles. And i doubt the Stuff readers think Plans is amazing.

Jesus, that website is terrible. I have absolutely no respect for that review, even if it is the most praise i've seen for Plans.
