There are two reasons I'm disappointed.

1. The album was leaked onto youtube

2. The album was a disappointment within itself sadly enough. The old sound of the Photo Album and Transatlanticism, my favorite albums, have disappeared, now what I hear are loud guitars chords, and a loud drum. Instead of the swift and soft melodies and the clear and sentimentally powerful voice of Ben, I hear the antithesis.

The lyrics are great, but they are a whisper with the new instrumentals.

I hope the next album may revert to some old familiar soothing sounds.

my comment. I disagree. It's not my favorite. But its an extremely positive departure from plans. If anything its a great return to the simplistic origins that made Facts so great.

Positive to the public, and the public is mostly filled with conformists.

I'd disagree about it being simplistic, I think if The Ice Was Getting Thinner would have stuck to the single piano and Ben, it would have been much more well done, and if the guitars and drums were toned down, they would have sounded better too.

No, instead of the piano acoustic he did in his live shows, they took it out and added an annoying guitar that is slightly tuned sharp (in my ear that is).

It was less of a ballad, and more of a dark sound ,that, like most of the new album, made me feel a little claustrophobic.

on a side note, I like the name, We Laugh Indoors was a great song, the guitar and drums are loud, which made me dislike this new album, but his voice is still clear, and it keeps an upbeatish sound, but this new album seems to do that in a darker perspective

The album is good. And you can't wish for them to return to anything close to transatlanticism. It will never happen.

It's threads like this that make me wish I had delete powers.

using the word implies that you place yourself outside of this collective culture that you claim conforms. It's just kind of places yourself on a high horse when you grudge off people as conformists.

and Tiny Vessels, Ben even admits that's the most assholish song he's ever written.

There is something that is oddly adolescent about that record. Don't get me wrong, it's my favorite death cab album, and this is also the reason i love it. I celebrated this shit in high school.

but as artists, they gotta move past that, and I doubt they're gonna go back.

giants is the only song that mentions fucking girls between classes but its only one girl mentioned and its more metaphorical than that and thats not what the song is about so you can't really say that thats what the album is about

i think its their best album by far and i've always like dcfc for ben's lyrics and how they typically deal with relationships in all aspects but stairs has strayed away from this theme and i have a hard time relating to the lyrics because of that

and i do agree that they won't go back to it because as artists they have to move forward but they can still write lyrics more on the basis of relationships and with the darker drearier sound that i personally loved on transatlanticism
