i have a friend who plays guitar and is really into the technical side of music. what are some death cab songs that will blow him away as far as guitar and technical ability goes?

He might want to try to figure out the picking part in A Movie Script Ending. This one's stumped me for a while, beacause of the layering. Let's see if his ear is as good as his playing. Cheers!

death cab really isn't an overly technical band.

Especially not anymore. Their most dificult/complicated/layered stuff is probably off of airplanes. I dunno tho.

yeah, they aren't THAT technical. i think of them more as making really exellent riffs with great timing/simplicity.

but for bands with good technical characteristics, minus the bear does it for me. i mean, booyakasha.

who's up for a game of crossfire?

yeah, they aren't very technical. i'd like to think of their guitar work as using great timing and originality. like in why you'd want to live here, there's the repetitive C powerchord played over and over, but they can pull it off because the timing of it is right and it makes a nice rhythm.

as far as technical bands, of more or less similar genre, i strongly suggest minus the bear. i love hearing what they can do.

Death Cab are really bad at their instruments, I'd steer clear of them if I were you. Aim for more of the serious music, not just novelty pop. Like steve vai and joe satriani and shit. seriously, if you want to learn 2 chords, fine play death cab but its your loss

wow 1000shits, you are a a freaking retard with no taste and you have no right to post on here! that's exactly the kind of techy-gay crap that i want to steer my friend away from. steve vai is an idiot. he's good at guitar, but he knows nothing about songwriting, he just stands there and solos and shows off! go home you stupid bastard!

drumming-wise Death cab vary alot.
'The sound of settling' is pretty simple n straight foward, much like 'Transatlanticism' but then there are rhythms like that of 'lightness' or 'we looked like giants' that are fun(yet hard) to play but sounds so good.

Any other drummers on here?
