Hi, i'm a new fan.. have transatlanticism and really love it.. then i discovered the song "such great heights" by postal service, and i now have about 5 of their songs.. but i know ben gibbard sings for both bands.. but what's the difference between the two? i mean how does he keep up with two totally different bands? also- i have transatlanticismm.. and i bought about 5 songs on i tunes (postal service, that is).. what other cd should i get for both.. that you'd reccommend a new listener.. i mean what kinda stuff do they play at their shows?
- i'll be at the summerfest show! my first death cab show!
thanks again!

Jess- New Blood!! Ha ha. Well, The postal service is Ben's side project. Since the release of "Give Up" He and Jimmy (Dntel) & Jenny (Rilo Kiley) have not done much else latley. Obviously Ben has been w/ the boy's completing thier new album. Jimmy Tamborello (Dntel) has recently released his new album, as did Rilo Kiley. I would suggest buying either " Something about airplanes" or "We have the fact's and we're voting yes". " The Photo Album is an excellent choice as well however, I heard the previous 2 when I first became a fan years ago. You should e mail me for further information & media that I have set aside. ditchingyoko@yahoo.com. Glad to have new fan's come aboard.

Hmmm, i'd suggest Home: Volume 5 . It's a split Ben did with Andrew Kenny.

Jess! hahah i think everyone on this forum is gonna tell ya the same thing! get the entire death cab back catalogue!! Its worth every penny!
Since you started with Transatlantism i suggest getting the Forbidden Love EP or The Photo Album first to ease you into the earlier stuff.

Home really is great, on both sides of the split, however if you like Trans. then I would listen to the Photo Album next.

Does Jenny Lewis sing on all the Postal Service songs? Or just Silhouettes? Because it doesn't really sound like her on Nothing Better...idk.
