i've heard the colour of that vinyl described in so many different ways. it's not really orange, it's more like a pooey-mustard or something strange |

There is a blue Something about... on eBay at the moment - currently stands at $43.
I have the black one and the black Facts, I know its greedy but I want the white Facts and blue Airplanes... Just not $40s worth. |

Do any of you guys actually have record players? Or are they just for collection/show. I'm just wondering cause I've been thinking of buying some myself..

but yeah what exactly is the advantage to vinyl? i mean it does seem really "cool," but i'm not sure how practical it is. Is it just fun to play these albums on old fashioned LPs?

Sound quality is outstanding. Most audio nuts will tell you vinyl has the best sound quality possible, even beating digital, such as a CD. Go here for a sound comparison I think that link does a great job describing the difference. |

they make me feel old fashioned. which makes me want to dance like elvis. :-D

i was talking to my mom who obviously grew up in a time when record players were what people had to listen to their music on...and she said that record players have kind of crackly sound. also, she said that she always wanted the new technology other than the vinyl, which i thought was funny in light of this thread where all us 21st century people are talking about how great vinyl is.

Exactly. If you take care of your vinyl they sound perfect. On the website I posted, they explained that the only time digital (CD/DVD) is better than vinyl is when:
A. The vinyl gets scratched/worn B. There are dust particles in the grooves Unless the vinyl is extremely worn/dusty, you shouldn't ever hear a crackling sound. The only time you should ever hear it is if there is a part of the song where it has complete silence and has a scratch/dust particle in that particular groove. |

I have a record player.
Vinyl is the best sounding medium of audio. Digital is the worst. |

You got that? Sweet. I was looking at that earlier. Is it the clear vinyl? |

|
|

Yes it was, it's very hard to find now though.
Check on Ebay if you want it, it's usually up there but it'll cost ya. __________________________ I saved Latin, what did you ever do? |
