It is way too early for any of these blasted ranking threads. I am trying to hold off on listening Narrow Stairs to death so that it still feels new when it comes out for real. I will say that a lot of the tracks have potential to be in there and to declare unequivocally "no," is short-sighted, in my opinion.

for me, maybe the ice is getting thinner, or i will possess. not sure about others. im in two minds about narrow stairs now. i watched drive well last night, and i was thinking how people have been saying long division is like we laugh indoors. im sorry, but it just doesnt compare at all. this album on the whole is not as good as trans or facts or photo is it. just what im thinking atm.

Long Division and We Laugh Indoors seem like totally different songs to me...

I don't think I have come to a conclusion about which is better, but it seems like No Joy is just a traditionalist. We Laugh Indoors is not some amazing song, though it is good. It's really repetitive and not nearly as catchy as Long Division.

All time? it's hard to say, over time that list changes, but Grapevine Fires, The Ice Is Getting Thinner, and Cath are definitely going to be in my top 5 for the next year.

we haven't even had it for a week. Idk about others, but I need perspective. Half a year at least.

Hmm, I don't even feel like I'm jumping the gun, but I totally understand why some say it's too soon to tell.. Hell I'm usually the one looking down on those who make knee jerk reactions.

It's just that I am getting deja vu dating back to Plans. Immediately after hearing the leak for Plans, I just knew none of the tracks would ever crack my all-time top 10 DC list. Still holds true today.. but both Plans and Stairs I can play all the way through.

I simply don't hear a creation on par with a "Squares" or "No Joy". I'm happy though with Stairs.

the thing with top 10 lists is that its never going to be just about the music...its as much about yourself and where you are at this point in time, and how you'll look back on it etc.

no grand gestures
no definitive statements
just your remarkable glow

i think its a great album, its too early to tell if any reach my top 10 tbh
and how can anyone compare long division and we laugh indoors? they dont sound similar, and we laugh indoors is way better

This is the chance i never got to make a move, but we just talk about, the people we've met in the last 5 years and will we remember them in ten more...
