postcardfromtheeasternbloc:
i actually like that repeated "So who's gonna watch you die". It's really haunting, and it really makes you think. Just IMO.

does anyone have a guess as to what the hell he's talking about?

I think he's referenceing Jack Kerouac's poem OCtober In The Railroad Earth in the first line.

Soooooo many favourites...

It's not always so much as the words themselves, but the words in the context of the song, the music, the moment, and so forth...

Favourites : "Do they, collide, I ask, and you smile...with my feet, on the dash, the world doesn't matter"

also pretty much the entire metaphor that is "I Was A Kaleidoscope" especially "And i was a kaleidoscope... the snow on my lenses distorting the image of what was only one of you and i didn't know which one to address as all your lips moved. This is when i forget breathe all the things i scripted, they sound unfounded. And the look that you're giving me, it tells me exactly what you are thinking...
"this ain't working anymore." is beautiful and perfect. I wish I wrote that.

Oh, dude another favorite of mine is:
"When you feel embarrassed
then I'll be your pride.
When you need directions.
Then I'll be the guide"

I wish the world was flat like the old days.

My least favourite line is from IWFYITD.

"If heaven and hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the nose on their vacancy signs"

You Americans and your fancy signs...

lulz.

its "illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs"
like so:

(hotels and motels use them)

hence: "illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs" = when they are full.

edit: wait were you being sarcastic?

Bad:
"So when you'd ask, Is something wrong? I'd think, You're damn right there is, but we can't talk about it now."
I don't like the way he sings those couple of lines at all. Especially the "damn right there is" part.

Good:
"And together there in a shroud of frost,
the mountain air began to pass through every pane of weathered glass and I held you closer than anyone would ever get."

Does anybody else here agree that "Loyal Lover" has pretty awful lyrics? I don't think that there is a single line in that song that I like.

I would agree that every song that was recorded after plans has some pretty bad lyrics, for ben at least.
