Hi Death Cab fans,

My name is Mark Redfern and I'm the Senior Editor of Under the Radar music magazine. We're working on a big in-depth article on Death Cab for Cutie and their new album and we feel that the article could benefit the inclusion of some quotes from the fans. Below are some questions that we'd love for any of you to answer.

Unfortunately, we are right on deadline, so we would need the answers in less than 24 hours, by 7 PM Pacific time / 10 PM Eastern time tomorrow (Sunday, 6/26/05) at the latest (but the sooner the better). If you have a chance to answer one or all of the questions by then, then please send your answers directly to the writer who is working on the article, Matt Fink, at matt@undertheradarmag.com. Also give us your full name (first and last name), age, and location (city and state, or city and country if not in America).

Some of the answers will be used in our article, other responses might be posted on our website www.undertheradarmag.com. Here are the questions:

1.) What attracts you to Death Cab's music?

2.) Why do you think Death Cab has such a large, loyal fan base?

3.) What is your impression of Death Cab's individual members as people?

4.) What do you think about Death Cab signing to a major label?

5.) Do you expect that being on Atlantic will change their sound?

Send answers to matt@undertheradarmag.com

In case you're not familiar with the magazine, Chris Walla writes a regular column for us, and we've done a couple of articles on Death Cab in the past, but this will be the biggest one we've ever done.

Thanks for your time.

All the best,

Mark (Under the Radar)

1) I'm attracted to Death Cabs music because it's not like everthing else you hear. Their music is also very original.

2) A lot of the fans are loyal to Death Cab because they're loyal to us. They do their best and every album they've put out has been unique and unforgettable.

3) DCFC's members seem like the kind of guys I'd like to be friends with. They seem so down to earth and laid-back.

4) If they signed to a major label, they might become mainstream. Thats not always a bad thing because it means more fans, but that's usually when bands start sounding the same.

5) I don't think that a new record label necessarily means a new sound, just more advertisement. I know their next new album will be just as awesome, or even better than Transatlanticism.

1.) Their versatility and yet remaining true to their style

2.) They have a proper history with great foundations and all that adds to the intrigue

3.) The majority are cool, some are elitist, some are o.c. fans

4.)I think a lot of people will whine about it like little baby girls when a) don't know what they are talking about and b) wanna get out their own asses

5.) Ha check out previous question! The only people who will think that are serious boners/wangs

MEH. Magazine Shmagazine.

1.) Ben has an awesome voice, the simple yet complex arrangement of each instrument mixing to create a perfect sound.

2.) They're from the pacific north west and they're a "low rent band" people can relate to them....until ben starts wearing Bono glasses.

3.) Nice ?

4.) who cares ? they get money, we get music.

5.) Anything you do in your life effects the way you play as a musician. Music is an extension of yourself and you portray yourself through it. Musicians worry about their albums so much because they want a perfect representation of what goes on in their head.
