I remember reading an interview with Ben, where he said that the band had fifteen songs or something like that for Narrow Stairs...is it plausible that these would ever see light of day?

It's very, very unlikely that these will ever be released.

Most bands make around 20+ songs for an album, and only a fraction of them make it on the final version. In the case of Narrow Stairs, there were over 19 songs that weren't included. It is possible that one or two might be released, just as Talking Like Turnstiles was released on the Crooked Teeth EP. But I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Oh. That's bollocks. The fact that they won't be released, I mean. Not your explanation.

Do you have the live recording of Casino Blues? Like the last person said, we might get a few b-sides, but mostly they'll remain unheard. There are probably loads of Death Cab demos that will never see the light of day...

I agree, I'd love to hear the other songs, even if they aren't that great. But I think if I were a musician I wouldn't want to release every song I write.

Well, we got three b-sides with Plans. I for one would love to hear a studio Casino Blues.

I'd also love to hear a studio version of Casino Blues.

And three B-sides? I thought it was two (Talking Like Turnstiles, Jealousy Rides With Me)

Its bullshit how their 2 bonus tracks were demos. I mean it was nice to hear them and they were good, but they really could have released at least 1 non-album song. Im kind of upset about that. Hopefully we'll get something after while, sometimes it takes time for these things to surface

Chris Walla said on I think it was Stereogum that some extra tracks including Casino Blues may well appear.

Jealousy Rides With Me
Talking Like Turnstiles
This Temporary Life

B-sides to Plans, no? World Shut Your Mouth, while on a single to Plans, was originally released as the b-side to Title and Registration, so I don't count it.

Death Cab has never really been a b-side band, and you get the impression from Ben in his interviews that his songwriting tends to based around very long hours with a few sparse minutes of true inspiration. The songs that are on the albums are there for a reason Smiler

My guess, and it is an uniformed guess, that there may be a bonus track on the Barsuk vinyl in September? Photo Album had "Gridlock Caravans" and Plans had "Turnstiles" (but then again Transatlanticism didn;t have any).

btw the Japanese Narrow Stairs has No Sunlight (Demo) and Ice Is Getting Thinner (Demo).

The Japanese CD is out July 9th and this is what our colleagues in Japan think of it (badly translated through Babelfish)...

"The highest!
“Enormously pleasure…After going to measure such as him, but (still well with import board precedence from measure just one)…From after 邦 board…The [tsu] [te] you feel, with something…Regardless 邦 board preceding sale! [toizu] was the Japanese precedence to 3 - 4th! Warner! Privately this year the first expectation work!”
