PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Members of The Decemberists and Death Cab for Cutie take the stage with students of The Paul Green School of Rock for the "Best of the Northwest" show at The Wonder Ballroom this December 28th.

It gives aspiring musicians a chance to appear on stage with the groups.

For students of the school of rock that wish will come true at their "Best of the Northwest" concert at Portland's Wonder Ballroom.

This concert will bring representatives of many of the cutting edge bands who helped the Pacific Northwest influence the sound and attitude of American music.

In addition, members of Team Dresh, MudHoney, Poison Idea, and The Wipers are scheduled to perform. In a special segment called "Welcome to the Northwest" the students will be performing songs by artists who have relocated to the region, such as The Shins, Pavement and Spoon.

Ben Barnett of Kind of Like Spitting was talking about this. It sounds really cool. He teaches guitar there, which I think is just really cool. Those kids are real lucky.

That's awesome. I remember that movie, Rock School, about his school in Philly.

That's pretty awesome. The instrumentation is dead on.
I was reading in Ben Bernett's myspace blog and the whole thing sounded so cool. He said they did a rendition of Pedro the Lion's "Penetration". That'd be cool to hear, but all I can find are their Nirvana covers.
But that's definitely neat.
