Here's the set list from what i remember:
to sing for you [Donovan] brand new colony title and registration crooked teeth photobooth why you'd want to live here we will become silhouettes soul meets body passenger seat you remind me of home 405 your heart is an empty room recycled air up the junction [Squeeze] a lack of color i will follow you into the dark encore: harvest moon [Neil Young] blacking out the friction all apologies [Nirvana] sound of settling nothing better [w/ Jenny Lewis] such great heights [w/ Bazan, Lewis, and Rice] correct me if i missed any. Overall it was an excellent show, minus all the rude people talking during Rice and Bazan's sets (I expected it based on the previous shows discussed on the boards). I must say, Ben's vocals and playing were perfect. He was very talkative and said some hilarious shit. "I just got Decemberist whaled." This message has been edited. Yeah it was a fabulous show. Longest encore I've ever witnessed, which was great. Nothing better was the highlight for me, but everything sounded right on. I think the Squeeze cover was after passenger seat, but i could be wrong.

definatley a great show. i had a blast even with all the rude talkative people who then began to scream in my ear whenever Ben started to play their favorite song, whose name they dont know.
im adding a few pics to my flickr page http://www.flickr.com/photos/mscarisa/ thanks for the setlisting! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Bastet, |

I went to the Portland show since I was unable to get tickets for Seattle and I was going to blame the annoying audience on Portland, though I guess it was present in Seattle too. The performance was amazing, though the atmosphere created by the audience does impact the greatness of a show, unfortunately.
It is sad that people don't have proper concert-going etiquette, talking during the set, singing louding just to prove to the people around them that they know the song, singing the wrong words... |

I understand people who love Ben's music from All-Time Quarterback to the Postal Service to Plans. I'm one of them. But I don't mind hearing some people singing in the crowd. It's all part of a live show.
I travelled down from Vancouver for a long weekend with my girlfriend to watch this show. I thought the crowd, compared to Death Cab and others' shows I've seen in Vancouver, were a bit laid back. Don't be so ready to think a person is not as big a fan as you because they sing. Remember that those actions are due to extreme excitement. ps. i'm not defending myself. i didn't sing. |

I absolutely love when a whole crowd sings along quietly. It's when a single person sings louder than the performer that it gets annoying, especially when the person doesn't know the words. Talking on a cell phone in the front row is pretty bad too.

yes, I have nothing against singing at a concert, hearing the crowd seeing in the background can often be very powerful. I myself sang a little, though there were people around me who you could tell were only singing to show they knew the words, not because it was a natural reaction. And to be more specific, there was a guy about seven yards from me whom I could hear yelling at the guy next to him something to the extent "you will never know as much Death Cab than me" (I do realize that error in his limited reference towards dcfc) and then would loudly belt out the lyrics.
I apologize, I don't mean to rant, but going to a concert is not a competition. But indeed, a.s., it is interesting to compare the crowds in various cities. I would say that a solo show in particular would be a little more laid back, it is easier just to stand there and absorb the music. |
