I couldn't agree with the author of that article more. I was at the show and recorded the orchestral bit on my phone and therefore have given it many listens.

I don't see the need for a conductor in the first place when the rhythm of a song such as IWFYITD is so blatant and unobstructed. And as for the other songs Mr. McGerr does a perfectly fine job of setting the pace.

I'm probably oversimplifying here but damn it just play whats written at the pace heard.

I was at the show and for sure there were some issues with the first song IWFYITD. I have seen DCFC before and would've prefered the "solo only" version as opposed to the full orchestra version. However, my wife and the two folks seated with me who have never seen them thought that song WITH the Philharmonic was simply beautiful.....just a matter of taste....and the normal listener wouldn't pick up on the fact that the orchestra and BG were a tiny bit out of sync. Also, when BG does that song live, he hesitates not by count or anything.... but by listening and appriciating the audience reaction at certain points in IWFYITD...

BTW.... what is with the live version of Sound of Settling? Someones guitar sounds like it is either not tuned right or not playing the right parts..... this is not only on the Hollywood Bowl version but on other live Youtube versions.... just throwin that out there.....that said......Great Band! Happy that I was in LA for the show!!!!!

I am sick I never got to this show. As Mum says, it was a real event, and I'm a jealous as hell of anyone who was there.

Yeah, I think the deal with Sound of Settling is that the harmony guitar part was changed from the recorded version. It does sound a bit off, but after listening to it a couple times (from the Hollywood Bowl and from the Soundstage concert) it is a valid harmony, even if it is a little unexpected sounding. Maybe they were just trying to mix it up a bit.

THANKS!

I'd second this. It's a shame I'm a) broke and b) 7,000 miles away from LA.

I'll try to put one up on Friday.

Can't wait to get this...thanks!!
