Ok,

For anyone else who was at the show, was that venue the WORST SOUNDING VENUE you have ever been too as well? I felt so bad for the band. I've seen them twice before, and they sounded awesome both times. This place did not do them justice. It was SHIT. I was so disappointed. Ben even made a couple of subtle remarks about it including...'it sounds like we're playing in a volleyball'.

Oh well, next time I guess. Anyone else feel the same way?

I have to agree the place was way to bass heavy and not very acoustic although i did have a great time Smiler

I will post some pictures & videos soon and i taped audio as well so i will be sharing that down the road.

That's too bad to hear. Though I'm a huge fan of them, I was not going to pay $150 for three tickets. I had no interest at all in the other bands and was really upset that their only appearance in Boston was as part of a show like this. And judging from the large number of tickets still remaining on Saturday, it looks like a lot of other people felt this way as well.

Trust me, I won't make the same mistake twice. I wonder if the remaining tickets were due to expected sound quality issues experienced from other shows there? I won't really be seeing anyone else unless they are in a theatre/sound hall in the future. I pretty much just go see these guys and dresden dolls/ amanda palmer.

yeah was not great sounding, and the set list and 4 hour wait to hear them play for an hourish was not so great either. however of course they sound amazing live regardless of that damn volleyball. hahaha oh ben...too nice to say this shit sucks. there was no one really there and a decent amount of people there were tools...as far as i could tell from the people next to me who only knew plans.

Did anyone see them a few years back at the Avalon in Boston...best show i've ever been too. they played for a good 3ish hours. and i could have reached the stage if i felt like pissing a few people off...incredibly intimate show.

Hey all,

Here's the Boston setlist:

Bixby Canyon
New Year
Why You'd Want to Live Here
Photobooth
New Song
New Song
New Song
Soul Meets Body
Into the Dark
Possess Your Heart
New Song
Movie Script Ending
We Laugh Indoors
Crooked Teeth
Sound of Settling
Marching Bands of Manhatten

E: Title and Registration
Cath
405
Your Heart is an Empty Room
Transatlanticism

Almost the exact same set as Providence. They played Company Calls instead of We Laugh Indoors in Providence, and Twin Sized Bed instead of Cath. They also had time to do TIny Vessels in Providence.

Both shows were a lot of fun, although I was a bit bummed out that the sets were almost identical. When I saw them do 2 nights at the Opera House in 2006 they switched things up a lot, but on the other hand they weren't doing 2 nights at the same place so maybe this is how they normally do it.

I'm not sure what new songs were played where because I hadn't heard the album at the time although I'm pretty sure Long Division was the first unmarked new song on my list, and No Sunlight was definitely in there too.

The sound did stink in Boston sadly, although I usually like that venue. When the weather is better it is a fun place to see a show.

I'm not sure what MalloryL means by "there was no one really there"...the place was still packed at the end of a long day and the crowd was pretty fucking loud when they came out for the encore. Yeah, there were a bunch of tools out there, but that is pretty much the case whenever you go to a big concert like this so that is just how it goes sadly.

Also, I wouldn't worry about this being their only performance in Boston. I'm expecting they will be around several more times during the next year or two.

I saw them in 2006 at a theatre in boston. The sound quality was AMAZING. I guess it spoiled me. Frowner Also saw Ben do his solo gig in 07'. That was fantastic as well. Hope the next time around is at another old theatre in boston. Smiler~

i was referring to the fact that there were still tickets available on the day of the concert, and that the venue was not sold out by any means...empty seats everywhere. if the aisle security wasnt so tight i could have easily skipped 6 rows. and i was already in section 2.
and bill was that the show promoting plans? sounds like it...i wonder where it was. did anyone see the show in boston promoting transatlanticism?

Surely there were multiple shows in Boston for each CD... Portland can't be that spoiled.(They played Portland at least five times for Plans that I can think of.)

unfortunately not for transatlanticism...in boston anyways...i'm talking about RIGHT when the c.d was dropped...right before the tour-during or after.
i would go to every single show there was in boston if there were more than one every couple years, i dont know why they dont play here that much, its rather sad.

Oh, I usually consider all touring to be in support of whichever album they most recently released. Either way, I hope they come to Boston for you more often, lol.

In 2006, DCFC played Boston 3 times in support of Plans:
April 2006, on the Franz Ferdinand co-headlining tour
November 2006, two nights at the Opera House, which were just stunning.

I also know in 2004, in support of Transatlanticism, they played Avalon twice (April and October 2004) and also played the Fleet Center twice, opening for Pearl Jam. They also played 2 shows at the Middle East in Cambridge (a stone's throw from Boston) in 2003. What I wouldn't have given to be at those shows!

Anyway, point is they have played Boston plenty in recent years and I'd expect that to continue. I'm all but guaranteeing they will play the Boston area at least a couple more times in the next year or so.
