The show last night was plain terrible. The audience at the show was so everybody and their brother that it killed the performance vibe. The worst came during Trans when everybody in the crowd found out that the red wings won the stanley cup. A group of about five drunk girls and one guy who were in their late twenties and trying to hold on to their dying youth ran to the front of the aisles and just started repeatedly screaming and yelling go red wings. Fuck Detroit and Fuck 89x for ruining the opportunity to see a great performance on this tour. You could definitely tell the type of crowd it was because as soon and the beginning riff to soul meets body came on the crowd erupted in chorus....but no one knew the words to the new stuff or photo, facts, etc.

Detroit Sucks!

This shouldn't be a reflection of the deathcab fans in detroit. What hurt last nights show was the fact that it was an 89x show. People that were there werent really death cab fans, just people who had heard them on the radio and either bought a ticket or were given tickets to go. You could tell who won the giveaways because the first three rows in the pit on the right side werent even standing. It was disgusting. It doesnt help either when the red wings win the stanley cup in the middle of the last song, so those same people were yelling about the victory, because they were only there for soul meets body and i will follow you into the dark. Had this just been a death cab show and not the 89x birthday bash, your opinion of detroit would probably be much better. They played a really good set with a lot of old stuff too and it was a shame that there were so many people there that didnt care about the great concert they were seeing.

Oh I know, I knew from the moment I found out it was at the fox that it wouldn't be the same as the last time they played at the state. (A) I don't think Death Cab is big enough to play such a premiere venue and (B) they are more of standing GA type band. Nobody in the Balcony was standing and everyone looked liked they were having a bad time. There was a group of people from germany that sat behind us and had never heard of death cab before. It is plain old sad. I hope next time they come to town they play majestic. It is a little on the smaller side, yet so much more convenient.
