I wasn't aware they were playing there... where did you hear this?

And if this is true... wow, Hollywood Bowl. And hopefully this'll coincide with my trip to L.A. this summer.

on my computer i have this application that is a calendar that shows when artists on my itunes are playing. and on july 5th it says death cab for cutie at the hollywood bowl. it kind of makes sense. they always play in the summer but usually at the greek. im guessing they would be headlining which is a huge deal at the hollywood bowl.

do they you think it's part of that summer series with the LA Philharmonic? or do you think it's just a normal gig.

i have no idea. also when you hover over an artists name it tells you who they are playing with as far as opening acts and such, but no artists show up when i hover over "death cab for cutie"

I can't really see Death Cab's music going well with an orchestra... it would be cool, but I can't imagine it.

Hopefully there's a summer tour in the works.

It's possible it's more of a spring tour because they are playing Philly April 7th: http://www.livenation.com/edp/eventId/402162

Well, no need to feel bad yet, apparently the show has been taken down... So either it was wrong, or I don't know what else it could be...

Ok, so the L.A. Times has an online article called, "Hollywood Bowl: A sneak peek at the 2009 season," dated Feb 6. According to the article, Death Cab will be performing with the L.A. Philharmonic orchestra (not sure if they'll be playing together or not). The season lineup hasn't been officially announced, but subscribers can buy series tickets now (I'm guessing they have to buy for the whole season). Single concert tickets are supposed to go on sale May 2. I've also seen elsewhere that Death Cab is scheduled to perform July 5, and I've even seen tickets being sold online(probably from series ticket-holders), though I wouldn't recommend buying them because we don't know what the actual prices will be.

Personally, I think DCfC would rock with a full orchestra. I can definitely imagine I Will Possess Your Heart kicking ass with the L.A. Phil. at least, but as I said I don't know if they'll be playing together or one after the other.

My girlfriend and I are going.
The Decemberists with the orchestra was nifty.

Sweet! It'll certainly be a one of a kind concert. How often do you get to hear d. cab play with a live orchestra?

.Justin., were you able to hear the band over the orchestra at the Decemberists concert? That's my one concern. Hopefully we'll hear more than just Ben + orchestra.

Decemberists + orchestra was awesome. I wish I had a recording of it or something, cause now I feel like some songs are actually missing the orchestra. It sounded so good.
