Seeing as DC haven't released new material (yet), it won't be that hard to guess what songs will be used. Based on the last two tours:

  • Bixby Canyon Bridge will probably get played at either the start or the end of the main set.
  • The New Year typically gets played second or third. Crooked Teeth normally follows not long after.
  • DC typically play Soul Meets Body, Dark, Possess, and then Cath... near the middle of the gig, and in that order. Partially because Ben uses his acoustic for the first two. Dark sometimes gets moved to the encore, though; it did for Australia '09.
  • Grapevine Fires and Long Division will probably get played.
  • Sound of Settling normally gets played near the end of the main set.
  • One of the Company Calls, and sometimes both, normally gets played.
  • Semi-regular songs include 405, The Employment Pages, Photobooth, We Laugh Indoors, Why You'd Want to Live Here, A Movie Script Ending, Title and Registration, Tiny Vessels, and Marching Bands of Manhattan, and Your Heart is an Empty Room. Songs from Something About Airplanes tend to make an appearance once every two or three gigs.
  • The encore sets tend to be a bit more eclectic; Brixton had Your Bruise in July and What Sarah Said (as a request) in November.
  • Transatlanticism always closes the gig, and IMO is much better live. Near the end, there's a brilliant reverberating wall of sound, and Ben normally keeps singing "come on..." until the instruments stop playing.

Hope this helps Smiler

None of these are for sure, but I'll add a * for the ones that they'll almost certainly play.

Airplanes: Fake Frowns, Your Bruise, or President of What? (or maybe none, it depends)
Facts: Title Track, Employment Pages, 405, Company Calls*, or Epilogue
Photo: A Movie Script Ending, We Laugh Indoors, or Why You'd Want to Live Here*
Trans: The New Year*, Title and Registration*, The Sound of Settling*, Tiny Vessels, Transatlanticism*, or We Looked Like Giants
Plans: Marching Bands of Manhattan, Soul Meets Body*, I Will Follow...*, Your Heart is an Empty Room, or Crooked Teeth*
Narrow Stairs: Bixby Canyon Bridge, I Will Possess...*, No Sunlight, Cath*, Grapevine Fires*, Long Division*
Forbidden Love EP: Photobooth*

You can never be too sure. But the ones with the stars next to them are pretty much staples of the set, so expect those along side some of the others.

I don't remember Photobooth at either of the shows I went to (Manchester or Sheffield), or the Brixton shows last year. Then again, Marching Bands didn't get played in the UK to my recollection (unfortunately), but it got played on the continent. Then again, Your Heart is an Empty Room made three appearances.

Generally, I'd agree with Brian's list of songs that they're more likely to play than not. Although it depends on how much of a fanbase they have. In Washington State, I expect that they can get away with playing their old stuff because they're well known there, whereas in the UK, you get a more modern setlist.

Oh, and as I said earlier, you will get a song or two which you don't expect. Brixton had "Your Bruise" (apparently rare for the UK) "What Sarah Said, for example.

They played Photobooth almost every night in Europe i think... i saw it in Berlin. Technicolor Girls was also a semi-regular not so long ago wasn't it? So was Summer Skin and Expo 86.

I for one really hope to catch Company Calls/Epilogue or 405 in Toronto as i've never seen those (i was however lucky enough to catch Employment Pages and Title Track in the same set in Berlin), and Why You'd Want to Live Here which is one of my favourites (and was replaced by the almost equally awesome We Laugh Indoors in Berlin)... and they didn't play Bixby (i think the Employment->Your Heart intro replaced it) or Marching Bands... so those are big hopes for me. Oh and some airplanes besides Your Bruise would be cool.

Summer Skin was played semi-regularly. Expo '86 was played in July, but not in November, IIRC. And Technicolor Girls was on the Sheffield set-list but not played. Sheffield also had the Employment->Your Heart intro, but had Bixby at the end.

Thanks for all the help guys!

Im actually hoping that they play What Sarah Said. You see that song almost reflects a period in my time exactly. Im dating a girl who was expected to die(her name was Sarah)I stood by her through her surgery and now shes ok and will be attending the concert with me.

Do you know of any way i could request the band to play this song? I hope they do!

Again thanks for all the help.

"What Sarah Said" is rarely played these days (though it was played sometimes during the Plans tour). Possibly the only way it'll get played is if you request it. Check out the thread about the Brixton Academy show back in November. Basically: get there very very early and ask them to play it very very nicely.

Another Airplanes song not mentioned here that's great live: Pictures in an Exhibition.

They played it in MD back in June, dunno if it's uncommon...

I was at that show! I'm pretty sure that was just a one time thing... I don't think they played it at any other shows on that tour.

If you can find the thread on that show, I got a few nice videos... including Exhibition.
