...yeah. They are terrible, and how they sold out The Backyard last night, I will never know. I chose to spend the $40 elsewhere.

Actually, it was more like $57 combined, because tomorrow, and Wednesday, I will be in a constant state of euphoria. The Parish welcomes the queen of indie, Miss Jenny Lewis & The Watson Twins tomorrow night, and I am hoping to get there early enough to stand front and center in such a beautiful, intimate venue. I have been looking forward to this show for ages, and it's finally here.

And then on Wednesday night, I'm making the half hour drive to The Backyard to check out Death Cab for Cutie! Oh yeah, and Franz Ferdinand...

...I really hope Franz doesn't play long, because Death Cab are pretty much my ideal music. Wonderful simplicity with beautiful lyrics, and I have been looking forward to this show for a long time as well. It's sold out too, which sucks, because its' going to be packed as hell.

I hope they play more music from The Photo Album than anything else. They'll probably have to please the "Soul Meets Body" peeps with more stuff from Plans, though. Meh... regardless, I can't wait! And I really hope it doesn't end too late, because it doesn't start till 8. And it better not RAIN! 50 percent chance worries me!

Also, I have a strong, strong feeling that Ben Gibbard is going to join Jenny Lewis onstage for a song or two from The Postal Service. Death Cab has on off-day tomorrow, and are here on Wednesday! Come on... it could happen! I'd jizz myself.

Anyway, I'll probably jot down the setlists and take some photos. Not that many people I know will care, because apparently not many of my friends like these talented musicians. But whatevs. Imma have fun.

Too much. Not enough thread.

Jenny Lewis was good....And I doubt they would do any TPS stuff. If anything they will sing Handle With Care, thats it. Ben probally has more urgent things to take care of on his one day off. Would be cool though.

I KNEW IT! I FRIGGIN' KNEW IT!

For the encore, BEN MUTHATRUCKIN' GIBBARD joined her and the rest of the band onstage to sing a song! It was called "Cold Mountain" or something, and was really, really beautiful! Sounded like a campfire song. I cried when he came out... I was like five people away from him! I screamed "I love you, Ben!" when it got quiet. Heh.

Wonderful, wonderful show. Whispertown 2000 was too cute. It comprised of a tiny lead singer named Morgan who seemed like she was on something, a backup vocalist who strikingly resembled her, a bassist, and a guitarist. Morgan was so quirky and cute... and her voice was great, too. She sounded sharp, but then I gave their myspace a listen, and it's the way they recorded it. Really good showing.

Dan Sartain was very impressive. He sang and played really bluesy guitar with a young, black drummer. They come from Birmingham, and it really showed. His voice and his music was great.

And then Jenny Lewis. They all came out, dressed identically, singing the acapella sensation "Run, Devil, Run," first without mics, and then with them. It was beautiful. They stormed straight into "The Big Guns," just like the album, and the rest was a wonderful list of my favorite songs from the album, sans "Handle With Care".

Setlist:
Run, Devil, Run
The Big Guns
Happy?
You Are What You Love
Melt Your Heart
The Charging Sky
New Untitled track (soooo beautiful!)
Paradise
Rise Up With Fists!!
Jack Kills Mom
Born Secular

Encore:
Baby Bye Bye (trio with only The Watson Twins, really funny and great)
Cold Mountain (with special guest BEN GIBBARD!)

Probably the best show I've been to in a long time, aside from Death Cab for Cutie in November. Tomorrow night (DCFC) is going to be just as fun! I'll have pictures developed for both shows by Friday. And some dude was videotaping it... hopefully he knows to share it on the Rilo Kiley website! It was truly an amazing experience. Thanks to Jenny Lewis, my Queen, for making March 28th one of the best nights of my life! The Angelic Goddess and My Idol, sharing a stage! Definitely jizz-worthy!

Um, wow. I'm jealous.

Whispertown 200 were seriously horrible when I saw them. The girl didn't even know how to adjust her guitar strap. Johnathon Rice had t help her. I really didn't enjoy their music at all.

But yeah, Jenny was great. Sounds like you really enjoyed yourself. I think you need to some therapy for your Ben obsession though........ Wink

Just got home from the Austin, Texas show with Franz Ferdinand and The Cribs, and it was a quite good performance. A little disappointment with the fact that they didn't play my favorite song (hence the user name), but that was okay. I was still front row, towards the right side of the stage for all of Death Cab's performance. Getting to the venue two hours before doors opened worked out for me. This chick behind me was pretty much molesting me during "Different Names for the Same Thing," though. Not saying I didn't enjoy it... but it was definitely unexpected. She was soo nice about it, as strange as that may sound. "I'm so sorry that I'm feeling all over you," she said. I told I didn't mind, heh.

Anyway, The Cribs were okay. Glad they only played a half hour though. It was weird; like, half their song was good, and then there were parts that were just dreadful. If they wanted to pick an up-and-coming British band for the opening slot, I think the Arctic Monkeys would have been a perfect fit.

Franz Ferdinand seriously impressed me. I was not expecting to enjoy their long performance, but I ended up thoroughly "feeling it" for the most part. Some parts were awful, mostly because I don't enjoy some of that kind of music, but their sound was really onpoint.

And of course, Death Cab for Cutie rocked the stage for a little over an hour, playing some from everything but not some of my favorites. The sound was kinda unclear, and Ben and Chris messed up a few times on piano. But other than that, it was fantastic standing up front for the first time and feeling the energy in that more intimate way. Great show.

Not as good as Jenny Lewis last night, but hardly anything is going to top that.

Setlist:
Crooked Teeth
The New Year
We Laugh Indoors
Title & Registration
President of What?
Expo '86
Different Names for the Same Thing
Company Calls
Photobooth
Movie Script Ending
What Sarah Said
Marching Bands of Manhattan
Sound of Settling

Encore:
I Will Follow You Into the Dark
Transatlanticism

Did someone hold a gun to your head and make you read it? Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe this is the On the Road board. When looking for reviews of shows, some substance, such as was given in this thread, is appreciated.
