With the new EP coming out? It's likely. Given Death Cab's penchant for going back out on the road if they're not recording new material (Ben admitted as much in Drive Well Sleep Carefully, and if you look at their previous gigs, they've played pretty much non-stop since last April), I'd say they'll visit Europe soon There is a gap in their tour schedule between early May and their last shows on the West Coast in July. I hope, but I'm not certain, that they'll announce some shows for Europe too.

Apparently they are "hopefully" playing Reading/Leeds in August, so a few dates around then maybe?

I hope so..

I would've thought it more likely for them to play Leeds/Reading last year than this year, but it does seem likely (that, and I don't want them to play Leeds/Reading just yet; I can shell out the £20 for the 20-song gig, but not the ~£160 for the weekend). In any case, the line-up should be known by this time next week. And if they do Reading and Leeds, I agree they'd probably do a week's worth of shows too: one in Scotland, one in Ireland, one on the M62 corridor, one in the Midlands, and one in Brixton (seeing as they weren't able to sell out Alexandra Palace four months ago).

Every year the Forestry Commission book a series of gigs by one artist, and they're all played in forests, unsurprisingly. Mostly in June, when the weather is guaranteed (!) Cool
The settings are fantastic, quite intimate, and would really suit Death Cab.

We have Sherwood Forest near us and this year's artist is Paul Weller, which I'm taking my kids to see.

Be great if DCFC did that kind of thing in the UK.

And the hardest part is yet to come

It would. Although I wouldn't count on the weather being nice in June; you know what the weather north of the Watford Gap is like Wink (incidentally, I thought Sheffield was about thirty miles from where I live in Brighouse; turns out, it's nearly fifty)

Given that they were absent from today's lineup announcement, can we now hope that the gap in their tour schedule between May and July holds some promise? Fingers crossed...

Probably. I would've expected Death Cab to be on the NME Tent list, at least, were they playing.

And also, you are in darkest West Yorkshire, whereas we are in the sunny republic of South Yorkshire. Wink

Actually, I'm from Chesterfield, which is in Derbyshire anyway. England's most beautiful county evidently.

I really love the browny grey stones that all your buildings seem to be made of. And the way that towns are so close together, you actually never know if you're Brighouse or Elland, Heckmondwike or Dewsbury, Huddersfield or Batley etc.

Second most beautiful county, thank you very much :P.

You're right about the towns merging into each other a bit; my personal border between Brighouse and Elland is the Royal Oak pub in Rastrick, just before the hill dips quite a bit into the valley. I believe some people call the area "Cleckhuddersfax".

If they are going to tour Europe, I doubt they'll do it next year. I have a feeling that after this tour, they'll sit down and record a new album for release late-2010/early 2011.

Anymore thoughts on this topic anyone. UK Winter tour would be nice. Maybe to preview some new material to half empty concert venues.

UK could also be a good place to hide from the Twilight backlash Stateside. Frowner
